Hello. For Portugal nationality application is there a language requirement for 13 year olds as well? Supposing my daughter’s residency card is approved by the time of eligibility!! Can she just apply or I assume I would have to apply first as the main applicant (I have my residency card but no language certificate yet)? Thank you very much. ---

If she is over 18, she has to apply in her own right for citizenship. If she’s under 18, I believe you, as her parent, have to already BE a citizen. You can’t apply for her to have citizenship based on your application for residency or your application for citizenship. It only becomes a possibility after citizenship is actually granted to you. ---

Thank you that makes sense in a way. Does anyone else have any further information or are in the same situation? Citizenship for a minor?
