A2 Portuguese Language Certificate course

Yes that is my understanding. I used their WhatsApp number and got an immediate response

I believe they bumped the price to €800 in February or March (which still isn’t bad!), though they still offer it for €720 for Nomad Gate members signing up here.

Would be interested in learning what other providers are charging!

Ciplemaster quote was “The Standard is 4,940€ and the Fast-Track is 5,700€; we do offer a 5% discount if you pay in full, in case you’re interested”

Thanks for sharing!!!
It is indeed eye-opening to see the wide range of offers.
The original price of PLA is only 25 Euros.
For those who are not able to take the PLA course by government in Portugal, fee starts from 710 to 5700 Euros (which is almost equal to the fee of 1st GV card). :grimacing:

NIALP offered this version to me yesterday to help my conflicts due to work travel. It is more expensive but offers a lot more flexibility. Probably the way my wife and I will go.

What was the price quoted? It looks like it would work for me too!

In addition to the price for this version, I wonder how the pre-recorded sessions work. Can you attend them at any time (e.g. 10 hours in one day if you want)?

And is the weekly live session a group class or individual session? If the former, what time/weekday is it?

Depending on price that could be a great option for people in awkward time zones like me (US West Coast).

I am sitting the CIPLE exam this May. Hope to pass but if I don’t will look into these PLA courses again

Good luck with the Exam. Mine is in July. Please share the “synopsis” of the exam.

Also, just to let everyone know who wants to take CIPLE exam this year: all the spots in Portugal are filled for both July and November. However, the nearby Spain is wide open. I have signed up to take the test in Cáceres, which is only about 3 hours from Lisbon - not too bad of a “commute”.

The course spans a total of 150 hours, which you can complete at your own pace, allowing you to manage your time effectively. To help you stay on track, we recommend dedicating a maximum 10 hours per week to your studies, which includes 1 hours of live interaction with your instructor per week only. The 1 hour live class is mandatory. As this is a new program, they have not firmed the live class times.

@AlamoMustang Did they quote you a price for the course? TIA

Did they say if it’s possible to do it more slowly than 10 hours per week? Also if you could let us know the price that would be great.

Are they certain this will qualify for the certificate, given it’s not all live? I assume that the self-study is going to be pretty interactive and potentially recorded, to prove you’ve done it and it’s you doing it?

It is very likely online YT videos from a few European Portuguese youtube channels. I have a friend who is currently taking NIALP classes.

My son and I are taking the 150 hour course online, via LUSA (Lisbon). We purposely chose the most flexible option which includes only the two of us and is based entirely on our schedule. We submit our schedule to them a month in advance and the instructor sets up our classes accordingly. Our instructor is amazing and patient. It will take us ~9-10 months to complete. It is not cheap, it costs $6k. We have found that due to our complex work schedules it has been entirely worth it. We will get the SIGO certificate when we meet the 150 hour requirement.

@Bclip Thanks for the information. Just a quick clarification - is the $6k for both of you to take the class or each? Thanks for contributing to the knowledge base - it helps more than you know.

$6k in total for both of us, for the entire 150 hours. We understand that it seems “expensive”, but well worth it in order to do it by ourselves at our own pace and based completely on our schedule. PLus what is another $6K at this point…

I have looked at their website and do not find a reference to the certificate for citizenship? How did they arrange that for you? Do you have to take the caple exam for citizenship?
