I ended our PGV attempt several motnhs ago when it became clear the rules woudl not be grandfathered - we wanted a citizenship route and are already around 60 years old. We got out of our [open fund](https://nomadgate.com/portugal/open-ended-funds/?source=forum) but we have a closed fund that doesnt mauture until Dec 2030. I’m alreayd upset we paid for services they wont render now like helping with biometrics etc, btu I just got an invoice for fiscal representation for E500. I read online I can maybe set up electrocni delivery of notices through the government website since I have a NIF, but I dont know the password for it. I have emailed them that I want to do this and not use them. is this correct? Should they be able to enable the electronic delivery and thereby end their fiscal representation? Has anyone else been able to do this themselves? i dont want to pay E500/year to these people on top of what we’ve paid which includes sevrices not rendered. If they dont send me the password to turn on the electronic delivery can I request it somehow? ---

You can switch fiscal representative at any time. If you are not generating income (eg rent) you don’tneed a Portugal resident to be your representative. You can make yourself the rep and you can enable electronic delivery. [Bordr.io](http://Bordr.io) has a great easy to follow guide to do this. You do need the password which your repsentative needs to provide. ---

No GCS set the password and used their email address so I have no way to change it. I tried emailing the portal and they said I need ID card pictures to reset it etc. I don’t have that only my NIF #. ---

I tried to change the representative to us on the portal and failed because it would only accept a local phone number. ---

It was my understanding after talking to a tax attorney that if you switch fiscal representation to yourself and a PT address, you risk tax residency even without PT income or at least an audit. It was my further understanding that you cannot use a non-PT address if you switch. We use [Bordr](https://nomadgate.com/go/bordr?source=forum) for $150/yr and it has been fine. ---

I have not tried as I do not want to risk tax residency at this point. We own property in PT but do not earn income there. I’d rather be safe than sorry. ---

Ok, then I can tell you that you won’t risk becoming a PT tax resident unless you update your tax address to PT. If you simply follow the [bordr.io](http://bordr.io) instructions on how to enable the electronic notifications, then you can remove your PT-based tax rep. Of course it is up to you if you want to save the 150 dollars per year or not, but technically speaking nothing is stopping you. There is no risk of becoming a PT tax resident with this approach. ---

I’m confused about that because the law says you do not need a tax representative, even if you have obligations, so long as you use the electronic notifications ---

Thank you for that link. I am going to try and use it to set up my electronic delivery if the government can cancel the GCS representation. They asked for my passport, name, address, NIF and reason etc. Hopefully they can do this quickly. I’ve sent Global Citizens Solutions three emails about this since getting an invoice and they have yet to reply. Very frustrating as we paid over E10,000+ for their services that were to include biometric help which we aren’t using now. I suspect they are trying to milk everyone for as mcjh as possible now. ---
