Dad in law is in Texas and was able to apply for a birth cert locally for his daughter. He then sent it to our friends in Austin who did the walk in service for apostille at the Sec of State office, and then FedEx to Lisbon.

Out of curiosity, my understanding is that state-side birth certificates require:

1. county clerk signature
2. state secretary apostille
3. federal secretary apostille

It sounds like you did not require a federal apostille. Am I misreading something, or is your lawyer able to navigate the complexities?
