Congratulations to everyone getting appointments. Nice to see the backlog being reduced. I wish it were this easy to get appointments back when I had to fight for an appointment (pre-auto invitation days). Although honestly most of the ā€œfightingā€ was with my lawyers. These young’uns don’t appreciate how good they have it now…

Hi Ron,
Could you also please give us the date on which you applied. Was it end-2021?

Thanks Anthony

actually … the dependent will have to wait the me ( main applicant) to have the biometric done …then will start process ours… so i am super frustrated now … even today … i know those applicant whom pre-approved in Dec 2021 already get their slot… i think SEF missed mine … and i have no idea when will start process mine… i dont know what should i do…

My family got approved in August 2022. My husband(main applicant ) has gotten his biometrics appointment scheduled for February 16, 2023; however, our lawyer informed us that the system didn’t allow appointments to be scheduled for other members of the family. I don’t know why this is

We are in the same situation, I made an appointment for me and my wife, but the system does not allow children

Thanks and regards,

Has one had the experience of not being invited when they were ā€œsupposedā€ to be based on date of application, but then were invited later?

For example, should have been invited in March this year, but then got invited in the July or recent December batches? Or didnt get invited in July, but got invited recently?

From comments here, I see some folks who get skipped and then never get taken up in layer batches, but dont remember seeing one who did eventually get invited after not being invites in turn.

Do we have any info on Porto vs Faro biometrics->card timelines? I see it was mentioned that Faro tends to be the fastest, but nothing on Porto really

An aside my lawyers said that SEF has up to 90 days to approve after you do biometrics, but here we have people seeing much much longer waits. I’m skeptical and asked for clarification about whether they see people getting cards in 90 days, that’s crazy fast

The list of required docs at the SEF biometrics appointment seems to vary from office to office and from lawyer to lawyer. :woman_shrugging: No surprises there! My lawyer has provided a short list of docs to be provided on the day (basically legalised TIN and CNCC being the most onerous) and she will accompany me to the Lisbon office for my appt in Jan. Has everybody who’s attended the Lisbon office had to provide the proof of no debts at AT and SocialSec?? We’ve all been waiting long enough frankly, so I’d like to arrive with the right docs and then be on my way! Thanks team and congrats to everyone who’s finally got a booking!

Did your lawyer ask to have your TIN apostilled?
I hope not every single document in the pack needs to be apostilled?..

I did biometric at SEF Lisbon office this July. No apostilled TIN, just same document as submitted for pre-approval.

Yes, my lawyer requested no debt statements from AT and SeguranƧa Social directly on my behalf.

I was told this….

Document Legalisation and Translation

Except for the passport, in order to be accepted by the Portuguese authorities each document has to be a) legalised and, if it is not in Portuguese, b) translated into Portuguese by means of a certified translation.

Documents may be legalised in one of the following alternative manners:

  1. By a Portuguese Consulate; or

  2. By the apostille of The Hague Convention, if the country of issue is a signatory thereof.

Documents must be accompanied by a certified translation
