The same happened to me (almost - wrong address on the card). I also didn’t have to hand in the incorrect one. But I was wanted by my lawyers not to use it - the ID number is different on the two. So I don’t think it has any practical use any longer.

Activobank will not open an account for Golden Visa holders. I just tried opening an account with them and they said it’s a recent change.

FWIW, I (US citizen, ARI investor with first card) was elected internal admin for my building’s condo. I was then approved (finally, after a few months) to access the condo’s bank account at BPI. From there, I applied to open a personal account, which was temporarily frozen to my annoyance, but just now I’ve found it is unrestricted.
So, maybe useful for some of you

I got final approval last week after app submission 11/15/21, biometrics in Lisbon 3/15/23. However, my DUC expires tomorrow and I can’t pay it. Finally got my Novobanco account unlocked this morning but it won’t let me pay the state. Don’t they want my money? Lol this is a journey

Can your lawyers pay for you?
I’ve asked them and they keep saying to wait for an invoice from billing that keeps not materializing. I hope so! I’ve sent so many emails they’re probably sick of me lol
Ha! I’m waiting on IAS to issue me an invoice too and have asked them everyday for it. Absolutely insane that now that we have approval, it takes this long to get an invoice from them to pay on our behalf. And really lame that they’re charging EU100 in order to do it, and I have to work this hard for them to do it.
We had the same problem in October 2024.
Many of you mentioned that it takes 2–3 months to receive the card after paying the DUC. But how can we confirm that the payment has actually been received?
I made my payment on the 4th of June, but it still isn’t reflected on the AIMA portal.
What’s even more frustrating is that there’s still no update on the approval for my dependents. My approval was on 13th of May.
Do we know yet if real estate fund investors are transitioned to D2 at first card renewal in the same way as investors who purchased real estate directly?
I am still waiting for approval and my first card (application Oct 2021, moved to Portugal March 2022, biometric in Lisbon Jan2023).
Asking because I am trying to decide whether to ditch the GV application and leave Portugal.

I think you should at least wait to see how the law shakes out in parliament. I suspect many of us will yank our investments and run if they really go through with it. But until its final, why uproot your life?

I did my biometrics in Lisbon in August 2022 and my card was issued on September 16, 2024.I received it in November 2024.
My wife still has not had her biometrics scheduled. Unlike some couples, we were not able to do our biometrics together.
Today, the attorney wrote me and said we can file a lawsuit for €800. I am having a hard time paying another cent as this whole process (4+ years since making the real estate investment) and them raising the fee by over €1000 is rather disheartening and border lining on fraudulent.
I was wondering what others think. What would you do if you were in our shoes? Obrgido!
I personally wouldn’t bother throwing another lawsuit on a pile of 50,000 outstanding ones…
