Can you please send me Sara’s contact? How much does she charge?
Heartiest congratulations. I have sent you a DM. Am I dire need of help and your message brings hope
What is the latest update for the final approval for biometrics in Lisbon? I did mine in March 2023 and am still waiting.
Did anyone who did their biometrics in November get their cards?
I did mine in June 2025 in Lisbon and still no card.
Bios in December 2024 in Lisbon and still no card… or approval, or payment request… ![]()
Did you apply initially through another lawyer? I did. And I’m waiting for DUC issuance. Do let me know how much were Sara’s charges. Thank you
Have you paid your DUC?
Hello!
Here is my timeline:
Application - June 2022
Notification of Biometrics - December 2025
Biometrics Cascais - March 2026
My lawyer informed me I’ll have to pay the fee of around Euros 6000 at the time of appointment. I’m guessing this is the new system since previously I would’ve had to pay the fee upon approval. Does anyone have a timeline with this new system? How long could be the estimated time for final approval and obtaining the residency card. I see here that a lot of people waited for 2 or more years after biometrics for approval, but as this is the new system, is it faster, slower or more of the same? Should I expect to wait a few more years atleast after the biometrics and payment in March 2026, till I can receive the residence card?
Thank you for any and all feedback.
Hi - there’s a thread dedicated to that here:
In short, as with many AIMA initiatives, there was some success early last year with ‘new process’ applicants getting their cards within a couple months of Bios+paying… but then things fell apart ![]()
As you’ll see in that dedicated thread above, now you’ll find ‘new process’ people waiting since last April.
That said, the bulk of 400k MI + 220k CPLP applicants have been dealt with, so AIMA is supposed to finally turn its attention to those "we left until the end, which are those that pay the most, the golden visas.”
Thank you so much for the info. Certainly helps! I’ll check the associated thread for more answers/estimates. Sorry for posting in the wrong thread!
Didn’t you pay when you did your biometrics? We did. We had to.
Ah… I am ‘old process,’ with Biometrics in 2024. We don’t pay until our application is fully approved.
‘New process’ with payment on the day of Biometrics (much more efficient and worry-free!) didn’t start until the first weeks of January 2025.
Regardless of process, still no cards!
Received my card today!

My lawyer received my card today!
My timeline:
- Filed the application in Dec 2021
- biometrics appointment in Lisbon in Feb 2023
- passport update September 2025
- Application became “Transferred” in October 2025
- DUC Paid on October 11th, 2025
- The lawyer just notified me; the card issue date shows October 25th, 2025.
No biometrics for dependents/spouses yet.
Quick question on your timeline—do you know why it took so long from the card issue/printing date to when your lawyer actually received it? Was there an address issue or was the card possibly lost and reissued?
It is hard to tell. I am not sure when exactly the card was printed or received by the lawyer. The AIMA site still shows my status as “Transferred” and DUC as “Issued.” Good luck to all of you
I am not even sure why my kids and spouse are stuck in “Under Analysis.” ?!
Rather than speed up card delivery, AIMA has introduced this bit of sticky plaster - a “comprovativo” that your renewal/residency permit has at least been approved:
It’s been 2 days since that AIMA post, but when I go to https://services.aima.gov.pt it only has options for CPLP and MI. And indeed if you go further you find that, once again, ARI has been left out ![]()
More here:
This is not long, but rather typical timeframe.
