Not to get too derailed by the joke but for what it’s worth I think Malta still sells citizenship for $2 million or something, so one assumes the billionaires have done that.
That is an interesting question, actually. Consider the fuss over the various very rich people who have chosen Portugal. Why didn’t they choose Malta? Sure it costs more, but $2mm is a rounding error to them, and it has instant returns, without having to bother learning Portuguese and waiting 5-8 years.
Throwing 2 mil over the window to get the Malta passport, i reckon that one needs to have at least 50 mil in his bank account.
500k for Portugal is not throwing money away. It is a fixed term investment. Once you get the passport, you always can resell your investment and you might get some returns from it. Even for 250k donation on the artistic project in Portugal, so far maybe 2-3 applicants have chosen this route whereas the proprety route and fund route have over 10k investors.
Quite a big difference here. One is donator, the other one is investor.
I was thinking more in terms of billionaires but your point is taken.
Propaganda is a war against the ignorant. Those who cannot discern truth and care not about searching for facts.
the people you describe definitely sound worth protecting from a joke
Good news, everyone. I managed to issue a DUC through ARI portal today in the morning.
The system still works with glitches, but I managed
@orangeblossom surprisingly, the price in the DUC doesn’t include the 30% increase.

In other words, the Portuguese news media, which is always looking for juicy fodder to whip up populist resentment of rich foreigners. We’re all delighted that you’re having your fun. You should frame the article and put it on the wall when you get quoted in the latest hit job against golden visas on TPN.
Y’all, relax. We’re all friends here
That was going to happen regardless of my actions.
Also, what garrett said.
FWIW, my attorney and another attorney whom I contacted for potential lawsuit have independently verified that SEF informed them that they are working through the 2022 September applicants in Lisbon. They told me it’s not worthwhile to bring suit right now since it’s only a couple of months away.
Thank you for sharing.
Which month did you do your biometrics? We did ours in Feb and debating whether to proceed with the lawsuit.
Did mine in Nov 2022
They aren’t through August yet
is that a “couple months away” for someone who applied in early 2022, when sef is processing dec 2021? they could take many months to process one month of paperwork…
Dunno
It’s more of a “broadly speaking” kinda thing.
Question - it seems like biometrics processing in Lisbon has been stalled at August 2022 since June 2023, has anybody who got biometrics done in Lisbon after Aug '22 received their final approvals yet ?
You mean: “… after Aug’22”?
Yes, thank you - edited. Long day
