Good news to share - received my card last week as well as the cards for my wife and daughter. Biometrics were February 16th, 2023 in Portimao/Faro, and final approval/payment July 12th.

The interesting thing is that my card says “SEF” and was issued October 19th, 2023 and my wife and daughters’ cards both say “AIMA” and were issued November 2nd, 2023 even though we had our biometrics together on the same date.

My lawyers received my SEF issued card in October, but did not receive the AIMA issued cards until January.

Congratulations! Thanks for sharing the information.

Finally, it seems there’s AIMA’s card making machine is waking up from a deep slumber.

Enjoy!

Had my Biometric appointment on 27th Feb at Coimbra Office. Still no progress on final approval.

Did biometrics on march 15, 2023 at coimbra. no news.

This is truly excellent news as I think you’re the first confirmed NomadGater to have received a card in the post-SEF era. Hopefully that means things are moving along for the rest of us! I also see a bunch of activity in the pre-approval thread as well, hopefully suggesting the gears are turning again generally.

Biometrics in Portimão, April 13, 2023, no updates on final approval.
Worse yet, husband, i.e. dependent filed/paid January 23, 2022 and still no pre-approval for him…YIKES!

his pre approval has got to be close, like any day now

@ohbee - Thank you for the encouraging words. I sure hope so, but can’t understand why he wasn’t approved closer with me as part of reunification. It appears others here have their whole family approved concurrently or very shortly thereafter.
One poster kindly suggested I email the attorneys as they thought the file might be lost in the black hole of SEF.
Oh well, fingers crossed it comes very soon, not just for us, but for ALL of us here. :<)

Checking NomadGate has become a habit for me now, to see where everyone is at. I’m really hoping AIMA can make 2023 the year that we all get our residencies as promised. After that, we will have to make a new thread for us to complain about other things, otherwise I don’t know where I’ll go for my daily dose of venting

welcome to the addiction club.

I’m just a few days ahead of you, did them on 24th Feb in Coimbra. So frustrating as there was someone who did theirs only a week or so before me in Coimbra and got their final approval months ago… Although with this law change hopefully coming through, I guess the delay will save on renewal fees!

I think it is too late for 2023… Still hoping for 2024, but the first month is already gone…

Some reason to hope!

Received approval today, January 25, 2024. Biometrics in Lisbon mid August 2022 (two different dates).

P.S. I did file an administrative action on Jan. 15 and a denial came back a couple days later. No rationale provided but another action filed by my attorney at same time was granted but they had a “better” argument for needing to travel in and out of PT (attorney wasn’t too clear on details when I asked questions). There was some earlier talk on the blog here about denials unless you have some immediate legal need and maybe that is true. We were in the process of preparing the appeal when the approval came in!

Brain fart! I meant 2024 of course. :disappointed_relieved:

You’re the first Lisbon approval in… I don’t know how long! That’s great news! Congratulations.

No no they have a point … the fastest way to get a GV is to invent time travel, and go back and apply for your GV 10 years ago!

We should spend less time speculating about the Laws of Portugal and more time speculating about the Laws of Physics.

Congratulations

Did you have to send a new police report or any other updated document before the approval? I’m the next month and want to get my ducks in a row. Thanks!

Edit: And congrats!!

Great news to see a final approval come in! Hopefully more to follow soon.
