Hey, my family is considering doing a lawsuit for biometrics and final approval, can those who did it disclose how much you spent on it? Thank you so much.
Me. I also used them for the GV so they were the obvious one to deal with the summons. We were successful first time and got our residence cards delivered in April.
I now live walking distance from their office in Lisbon.
They’re not cheap but you get what you pay for and I’m continuing to use them for other things - wills, setting up a company - now I’m here. It also helps that they have an accountancy sister company Finpartners that has done trustworthy work for me at a reasonable price.
Feel free to PM me if you want some more details.
Guys let’s keep lawsuit updates/recommendations/requests for a separate thread. Even if the only pre-approvals being granted now seem to solely come from lawsuits.
Thanks for the update.
Yes I also use Finpartner and satisfied with the services.
My lawyer filed a lawsuit in July to get AIMA to start to process my application and provide a biometric appointment date.
Have heard absolutely nothing.
The lawyer wrote the following this last week:
Regarding your specific filing, you are correct that we initiated the process earlier, in July. However, the court system has undergone a series of internal changes recently, including the movement of several judges to different courts. These shifts have caused delays because the new judges needed time to familiarize themselves with the inherited caseloads, including your case. While this transition is beyond our control, it is something we are acutely aware of and have been actively following up on.
Has anyone else heard the same story?
Thank you.
As @AH88 mentioned yesterday, you’ll find the separate lawsuit thread is focused on… well… lawsuits. So you’re more likely to get your lawsuit questions answered there.
Is there any instance of pre-approval granted in the last few months, which was NOT a result/consequence of a lawsuit? If anyone has got such a pre-approval, please update us all. It looks as if the only pre-approvals coming through now are lawsuit driven and AIMA has put everything else into the pending tray. We applied in June 2023, and have not filed a lawsuit.
If you look at the GV time line database, there have been no pre-approvals for any main applicant (on Nomadgate) - and in my view, for those of us that applied in 2023, pre-approvals looked some way off.
Yes, it really sucks that AIMA isn’t moving on our applications, and the journey to the end-goal of citizenship seems some way away. Yes it’s frustrating. The delays are bad - but just to put things into context - in the United States, for some nationalities applying for a green card in the US, having lived there for multiple years (15+), it could be - wait for it - a 195 year wait for USCIS to clear the backlog. I know of colleagues on US H1-B visas who are now in a situation that their nearly adult children have to potentially either leave the US (when they turn 18) or apply to study as an international student. Their green card petitions are stuck in limbo with likely no hope of being approved in their lifetime.
We are in somewhat of an echo chamber here when venting our frustration- so if one is in a position to roll the dice with a lawsuit, you don’t have anything to lose (other than the lawsuit fee if you’re not successful) - which is why I pulled the trigger (and Lady Luck shined and my application moved to the next step of biometrics).
Congratulations John.
When did you file the law suit if you don’t mind me asking, and how long did the court take to make a decision?
Filed in mid-September and got a decision in mid-November, with biometrics for Jan 2025. My lawyer is hopeful that final approvals and cards in hand will come within 60 working days. I’m cautiously optimistic!
Congrats! Was it filed on basis of urgency?
Hello everyone, I hope it will give hope to someone and I can get my card quickly.

We met with the lawyer at Portimao AIMA office and it took only 1 hour for my whole family. They took pictures, fingerprints and signature.
