Awaiting Pre-Approval (Stage 2)

I received the same email, even though I’ve already submitted biometrics. Surely there is nothing more to submit…?

Hi Nik…When was your online application?

End of 21, biometrics in 23.

My sense is that this interpretation is correct. We received the email today, and the critical paragraph in the email was (translation by Google) as under:
Quote:
Therefore, if you still wish to request a residence permit for investment through article 90.º-A, of Law no. 23/2007, of 4/07, for the purposes of the administrative procedure regarding your application represented, carried out via the ARI portal, is Your Excellency notified that they must present the required documentation in the form indicated in this communication, under penalty of their desertion.
Unquote
(Emphasis added by me)
Which means that those who do not complete this process will be deemed to have ‘deserted’ i.e. abandoned their application…

Do we know the deadline for this reuploading of the documents?

There is no deadline mentioned in the email.

Does anyone know if it’s possible to remove some family members at this point if they are no longer interested in proceeding and paying the initial application fee?

Can you link source please?

Somewhat better translation, by ChatGPT:
Important Notice
If you still wish to request a residence authorization for investment under Article 90-A of Law No. 23/2007, dated July 4, please submit the required documentation as outlined in this notification. Failure to do so may result in the application being deemed abandoned.

FWIW, desertion is declared after an application is suspended for six months.
See “Administrative Procedure Code”, article 132:

My lawyer IAS has not yet sent me any such email. n fact we filed a case in Oct. But have not heard back for that too. Is this a lawyer firm issue? Is anyone else in the same boat as me here - That is IAS as lawyer, not received this email and maybe even filed a court case and not heard back. If yes, then kindly DM me.

Also, is there any group here (or on WhatsApp or somewhere else) for IAS clients who are still awaiting pre-approval? If yes, then kindly DM me so that I can join.

Regards.

Thanks for sharing. Perhaps once the lawyers return on 2nd or 3rd Jan, we may expect some ‘personalised’ emails

What I’m taking away from this is the second part. After the application has been registered online, then appointments are going to be scheduled in chronological order for the first half of 2025. You have the opportunity to upload updated documents before then. If you can’t to the appointment, then it will be rescheduled for the second half of 2025. So this is moving everything from a haphazard paper system to a computerized queuing system. That’s real progress.

Is there any information about whether the residency / time spent in Portugal requirements are in force from the date the application is filed? Or do they only apply from the date pre-approval is given?

Wasn’t expecting anything significant from AIMA till the new year, but this seems to be it, without any clear documentation. Hope we get some clarifications soon. The big question is - will biometrics be scheduled before documents are uploaded? Or, is that now a necessary step?

We applied Oct 2022 and have heard nothing at all. Our lawyers are IAS and they never contact us. I think we need to change lawyer. Can someone recommend a more proactive lawyer please?
Thanks! Clare H

GCS (Global Citizen Solutions) have been quiet this fall but then they sent a hugely helpful email right after the AIMA email arrived. In the middle of a holiday week! they kept me in the loop.

Received the email a couple of days ago but application says ‘accepted’ - will they be moving to ‘moving to sent’ in chronological order or should we start gathering our documents already, anyone heard from their lawyers?

Would you be willing to share the email from GCS?
