Err on the side of caution and get an updated criminal report (done within 90 days of the biometric appointment). Im theory, the resubmission should be sufficient, but many people have/are getting updated ones. The downside - getting rejected at the appointment - is simply too steep.
Applied June, 2022. Advised today biometrics (primary applicant only) scheduled January 2026, Lisbon.
Are fees cheaper for anyone or same ish all around no matter the investment path?

Biometrics April 2026, Cascais
Sole applicant, no dependents, no lawsuits
Regarding payment, the idea in 2025 was to streamline the process, so final approval happens right after biometrics. Let’s wait and see what they plan for 2026.

Quick question, who has been to the biométric appointment in Lisbon, how long is the process? Will it take all day? Thank
It can vary significantly. The shortest one I have heard of has been 90 minutes. However, it can take significantly longer depending on where you appointment is in the queue. Also, if I recall, one other person on this board took several hours due to an IT outage.
The short answer is that you should plan to be there all day. It will put you in the psychological framework that anything shorter is a win. That’s better than going in assuming it will take 90 minutes and it takes 6 hours.
Regardless, bring snacks and entertainment.
Super Thank you very much for your input.
