Please DM me a contact in NSM Lawyers. I would like to file an early application.
Not sure who you’re asking this question of. I don’t see any recent references to NSM. Mine is CRS (though I was originally with NSM).
completed.
Applying beige 4 days to IRN ,receiving the below message
O estado do seu pedido de nacionalidade com o número de submissão IRN-……. foi alterado para “Finalizado”.
Is that meaning the the preliminary analysis is completed and now will enter into the queue for substance analysis.
Since the spirit is being high to apply early for citizenship, is it possible to apply early for citizenship under marriage category even now one is not married to any portuguese? Because the citizenship’s application under marriage route often takes 5 years, it means one has time to prepare the requirements during 5 years. I wonder if one could apply now and then try to find and marry a portuguese next year, and at year 5 when then application is considered, one is already married for more than 3 years which satisfies the requirement.

You know I had a similar thought - not as extreme as you though!
Citizenship through marriage can be opposed by the government based on “lack of connection to the Portuguese community”, but this connection is assumed if you’ve been married 6 years.
So I assume for most people it is safe to file immediately after 3 years, then by the time their application is processed, they will have more than 6 years, and there is no grounds for the government to oppose.
But I was mostly thinking for GV holders where the spouse might apply for citizenship through the main applicant (if the spouse never held GV themselves)
I know you mean it as a fun post, but in fact no, it is not possible due to the lack of marriage certificate (as well as the lack of spouse’s birth certificate) which are mandatory documents to accompany submission.
It is just my imagination. But if lawyer can apply online, i guess that they can skip this document (just like A2 language certificate or a valid resident card of GV). Because as we know that IRN is not going to even touch the document until year 5.
But it is just my wild hypothesis and will not be ever tested in reality.
You have to mention your profession in the application. I am a retired person who is not getting any pension. I have passive investments which give me annual returns. Does it matter if I say Retired or Investor in the application. My Bank account shows my professsion as ‘Sem Profissao’ which translates to ‘No Profession.’
We did an early citizenship application (with a few documents still missing) and today got a message from AIMA that the application has moved to “Em Correção”. Has anyone received these for an early application? Was quite quick to get this given the application was filed only late last week
When did you apply and was it online via lawyer or paper?
You mean IRN not AIMA right?
I read somewhere that IRN is supposed to do an initial check within 30 days and ask for missing documents.
Yes, it is IRN. No idea if it was paper but would assume so.
To be honest, I think they’re smart enough — and evil enough — to just collect the €250, flag the application, and let it sit there for years.
I wouldn’t assume an early filing is some genius loophole. More likely, they’ve already thought of it and built a nice little bureaucratic trap around it.
Did you apply via lawyer, and did you submit anything in place of the missing documents?
Applied through lawyers. And have asked them the questions around what this means and also if they filed physical
If you got anything from IRN within a week, I can’t imagine the application was via the paper form. The IRN backlog is currently >500k, with thousands of paper-based processes waiting.
Normal online submission process should be em pagamento > submetido > em verificação > verificado > finalizado… and then you get the actual tracking number. For me this took like 15-20 days and it progresses fast vs some people claims it may take 6-7 months.
Is the tracking number the one you can enter on Consultar estado do processo de nacionalidade | Justiça.gov.pt? That means your application is on “finalizado” i.e. initial check finalized?
Somehow, I got the tracking same day my lawyer submitted the application (this last week). They speculated that IRN had somehow fixed the process recently?
But when I check on IRN website it just says “submetido”.
These are two different reference numbers.
