You are portuguese?

No, I’m American. It’s quite standard to say “Moreover, …” in English!

Has anyone who received the Falta for the A2 language requirement requested for the extension of the deadline? I have received the 30 days deadline til the first week of July. I already submitted the PLA enrollment certificate within the initial application but it seems it is not enough at this point.
My course is until 2nd week of August, so I absolutely cannot provide with the final certificate before the deadline.
My law firm has requested for the extension, but I am wondering if anyone was able to successfully extend indeed. Thank you

You received a falta for only A2 and given 30 days to cure. Did IRN specifiy this as calendar days or working days?

a lawyer from Whatsapp group has indicated, that previously they repsonded to IRN on behalf of a client as late as 9 months after the notification for documents. But that was before the new Lei. You should ask your lawyer to follow up very closely.

Maybe talk to your school and ask if there’s any way they can double or triple your hours, or otherwise help you complete the requirement faster. I know it sounds crazy, but it’s worth asking.

You could also ask them to expedite your certificate. Offer to pay an additional fee, maybe around €500, if that’s appropriate, but use your own judgment. Explain your situation clearly and ask if there’s anything they can do to help.

In the meantime, ask your lawyer to file for an extension, but still aim to submit everything before the original due date if possible.

The period usually allowed is

  • 10 working days for domestic documents (including A2)
  • 30 working days for foreign documents (eg birth certificates)
  • the longer period if there are multiple deficiencies

If @liamr had a notification with 30 working days, there may be more than one issue

so 5% of early applicants received this “Falta” thing?
so 95% are ok?

or is it more like 99%

10/70 (14%) have received faltas so far. Porto is slower than Lisbon, so most of the faltas thus far are from Lisbon (Registo Centrais), and faltas from Porto are only starting to begin.

But faltas are not for “being early”. IRN has no clue who is early or not until they receive the CdT from AIMA which is months later in the process. Faltas are for missing or invalid documents, like birth certificate, A2 certificate, or police clearance certificates.

Everyone whose application is missing a document or has an invalid document should receive a falta at some point. It’s just a question of when, not if. Many hoped/expected it’d happen months later, but it’s instead happening within a few weeks of submission.

Many hoped/expected it’d happen months later, but

lawyers are saying irn is gonna review your file after 2-3 years, not months later tho

2-3 years hence would be “the late check” that we were all familiar with. It’s “the early/validation check” that’s a new IRN surprise.

I wonder if anyone received falta after 6 weeks from lisbon

is there anyone here who received falta for language school enrollment letter not being sufficient?

Yes, we got one

you or who?

My wife got one

Sorry for the late reply,
I was informed by my law firm that the falta is solely for the A2 certificate. They are going to appeal for the extension at the last minute before the given deadline. It seems some people are receiving this thing like me and it is very randomly sent, no matter when you applied because someone who applied before me have not received the Falta yet.

It seems it is based on working days because my law firm informed me the specific date, and it was more than the actual 30 days from the day I received the falta.
