Application: Oct 2025
Notice of Primary investor Biometrics Appt arrived in May 2026
Primary investor Biometrics Appt: September 2026, Lisbon
No dependents scheduled for biometrics yet

They seem to be releasing appointments in reversal chronological order and it’s absolutely rage inducing. I’ve spent two weeks wondering if I’ll get the email any moment now or if they’ve totally skipped me again.

Something I’ve noticed, they give some newer applicants appointments, but their first appointment is further out ~1 year. Those who applied earlier (prior to 2025) seem to be getting appointments later this year. Its not much at this point, but maybe silver lining?

Primary applicant had biometrics appointment in Feb 2026
Dependents biometrics appointments scheduled for January 2027

Anyone has a successful experience of rescheduling of your biometric appointment this year? How long did you wait for the new appointment?

I received Jan 2027 appointments for my family members, but need to reschedule that……

Did anyone get a card yet? I see that family biometrics coming in but any progress on cards to be reported?

There’s a whole separate thread for that:

Application June 2022
Main applicant biometrics January 2026 (Lisbon)
Spouse biometrics scheduled for September 2026 (Cascais)
Residence card not yet received

Application date October 2025
Biometric Appointment September 2026

Application - January 2025

Primary - fingerprints in March 2026, no card yet

Dependent - January 2027

Primary applicant June 2023
Biometrics appointment 29.05.2026, at 14.30hrs at Cascais
Had a meeting with the lawyers a couple of days earlier. Arranged to meet at AIMA Cascais 15 minutes ahead of the appointment, and swapped phone numbers. Fees for AIMA transferred to lawyers account in advance.
No new / apostilled documents required by the lawyer, except for the original boarding card for the flight to Lisbon, and the passport.

Arrived at Cascais AIMA at 14.15hrs. Lawyer was already there and had taken the ‘ticket’ ; 2 employees on duty at Cascais AIMA of which 1 was on a lunch break. 3 tickets were there ahead of me.

I was called in at 15.00 hrs; In and out in 10 minutes.

Missed the general nationwide strike by AIMA from 1stJune to 5th June by getting biometrics done on the last working day before the strike started.

Awaiting biometrics appointments for dependants.

  • Primary applicant of September 2023 Real Estate route GV application
  • Biometrics appointment: Lisbon 01 June 2026, 11:30 (First day of June AIMA strike)
  • We met with a lawyer from our Law Firm 15 minutes before appointment time, she just took my passport and boarding pass and told me no other document is needed. Although it was the announced first day of the AIMA strike , they took in everyone who have an appointment to process , I guess they turned away people who do not have any appointment
  • She took a ticket and my number was 29 (and they were processing 16 at the moment) , she told me to go out , sit and wait at a cafe and she will call WhatsApp/call me when it’s my turn
  • It took 2 hours before she called me, and then another 15 minutes to finish fingerprints and photo shoot.
  • Payed with a Master Card (credit card) without any problems
  • My lawyer handed me application taken and payment receipts and told me to keep them safe
  • No news about appointment for dependents yet

Application formally submitted May 2025 (started work in Jan 2025)
Primary applicant biometrics appointment January 2026 in Caiscais
Family biometrics appointment now scheduled for February 2027 in Portimao

Slow but reasonable in my opinion. Using YPT Golden Visa & Investment group + AGPC Lawyers has made it smooth.

Did you file a lawsuit to jump the queue? Many people who filed years before you still have no biometrics appointment for dependents, so I wonder what the reason is that AIMA is now processing applications out of chronological order.

Nope! I think the early system was so messed up that if you got in later with everything done right, its faster. That’s my guess.

Mine too. I paid my application fee in October 2025 and had my appointment in February this year. No word on dependent appointments yet though.

Outcomes seem utterly random.

2023 primary applicant, biometrics in Feb. No card, no dependent appointments yet. Kids and husband won’t be able to travel with me next month to see relatives because they cant leave Portugal. So beyond frustrated. Has anyone gotten dependent appointments after a primary bio in Feb?

dependent appointments for people with early 2026 biometrics appointments have been trickling out over the past month but it all remains infuriatingly random. I’ve been told by my attorney that all we can do is wait.

We had not gotten our dependent appointments after repeatedly checking with our attorney. Finally, since we were planning a big trip, I begged them to reach out to AIMA and lo and behold, AIMA had dates for our appointments - march 18 in faro. Being in that hold pattern was getting incredibly frustrating. Btw, my husband, who had his appointment feb 5 in cascais, still has no card. Citizenship timing change aside, I do not understand the fairness of starting the clock when cards are received which is incredibly random as everyone has noted, as opposed to application date. For our family, and most people on here, their clocks will start at least a year apart even though everyone applied together. That alone does not seem in line with reasonable expectations on which we all based a large financial decision (obviously this aside belongs in the lawsuit section)
