I was merely clarifying the situation. You implied that ARI PR was available at one point in time , and then stated that EU LTR is still there.
ARI PR isnt there now (we both agree on this point) and the EU LTR Is different than EU PR.
Is it possible you are confusing ARI PR with EU PR?
I do not think that Aima will ever list PR on the platform for people to request appointments easily. The whole game is to lock up the animal as long as possible and to suffocate it as much as possible.
If one has PR, it mean that he/she will only suffer once every five years. Noooooo! 5 years is too long. He/she deserves to be suffered every 2-3 years. Hence requesting an appointment for PR will probably never be listed as an easy mouse click.
EU LR is a different story. It must be there because there is some sort of EU enforcement.
The show is even worst when people had the PR appointments and requested PR and paid for PR fees, but the TR cards arrived home with only 3 years validity. I’ve seen many cases like that in FB’s groups.
But it is only one way direction (requesting PR and receiving TR), the opposite direction (requesting TR and receiving PR) has never ever happened and won’t happen for sure.

I love how nobody seems to be mentioning anything about the lawsuits regarding the grandfathering law not being there for old residents. Everyone seems to accepted it in a period of 2-3 months and moved on from this topic.

I believe they’re waiting for the new law’s implementation - the actual regulations - to be announced. Otherwise it’s hard to know what you’re suing against.
I think those lawsuits were about expressing rage and then lawyers happily taking more fees from angry, irrational people. Could anyone really expect them to win?

This is how AIMA treats immigrants. Golden Visa applicants spend a lot of money but receive no exceptions and are even placed at the bottom of the waiting list 
They created numerous types of immigration visas, essentially trapping everyone in one big cage.

Argh. I never said ARI PR was available. That is a whole other issue. There was a screenshot on a popular facebook page which has since been taken down, that presented PR as an option. Whether it was ARI or not, I don’t know.
That option moved to its ‘permanent’ home at the Portal de Renovacões from July 2026. I expect the regular PR would be added there at some point in the future, but not on the Contactenos form.

I don’t think that’s the case at all. We’re all in wait and see mode until the regulations are published and then it takes time for lawsuits to start making their way through courts.
The precipitating event is likely to be a denial of citizenship application. As it is now everyone who applied for ARI before May 2021 has been able to apply for citizenship at 5 years, it’s the people who applied for ARI between May 2021 and May 2026 who will have been harmed. Once those folks start receiving rejections for citizenship applications at 5 years I bet we’ll start hearing about lawsuits unless Portugal handles this well with their regulations.

There is no one who applied PR between May 2021 and May 2026 will be harmed. I am sure that they applied for citizenship even before applying for PR.

A colleague who is familiar with our efforts/journey forwarded this article discussing the revised citizenship requirements. There is no new info here for any of the regular participants in the forum, except that it appears in Fodor’s online publication - a travel and tourism pub.

Hi all, that’s me in the article and SJC. Thanks for your support and contributions. As of yet, no response from the government, but they were on vacation for all of August. They said they weren’t going to go on vacation but did because there are lots of photos of them.
We basically had to wait until next week to get anything done. Yes, this is how Portugal works.
