WIKI: HOW-TO: Golden Visa Renewal Mega Thread (January 2025 →)

I have seen loja.porto@aima.gov.pt before, but no idea if it works

That’s interesting. May I ask where you saw it?

Uh… it’s been a long 3.5 years of SEF/AIMA nonsense… all kind of a blur now, sorry :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Only 3.5 years??? You are just a beginner, mate!

Look at this site - AIMA — служба поддержки мигрантов в Португалии.
It looks to be partly in Russian and partly Portuguese but may provide the info that you are asking for.

Great source, thanks! If anyone needs translation from Russian, I can oblige…

Is there someone to get the GV extension card already, who submitted the application in end of August, 2025 in city of Porto?

I applied at AIMA Sintra Cacém at the end of October 2025 and have not yet received my card.

I just got an email from Aima, copying my lawyer, saying that my renewal card is ready and being mailed out today - from the azores! Apparently it was transferred from where I applied (Tavira). Appointment was in September.

Where are they mailing out to? I doubt they actually print the cards in the Azores. It’s Casa de Moeda who prints them.

Interesting, thanks. They said my request was transferred to their office for processing and they’re mailing it out today, but maybe it’s shipping from the mainland and I misunderstood. I guess I’ll see when it arrives!

Yeah, probably they meant that AIMA Azores was processing your authorisation, not printing/mailing the card. Anyway good to know the Sep 2025 renewals are being issued, thanks!

Congrats, that gives me hope that my Sept card maybe processed soon as well!

Congratulation! Your case seems quite fast compared with others.

I just went through immigration at Lisbon airport. I asked the immigration officer if he could check whether my new residence permit, renewed in October 2025, had been approved or issued. He was able to check this information and informed me that the renewal has not yet been approved.

Wow. So the best and fastest way to get the latest status of any AIMA process is to fly into Portugal from outside Schengen, and opt for the manual immi lanes?

In the case of renewal, the fee increased from 3,157.80 to 4,210.30 euros, also a rise of 33.3%.

How many here have had to pay €618.60 to AIMA for “application analysis”? We have been given a quote for AIMA and legal fees and they are higher than what we were led to believe. I’d be interested to hear people’s thoughts on this.

My understanding is that AIMA is charging them again, and we certainly had to pay them (discussions early 2025, applications submitted mid 2025). If I recall the explanation correctly it was because that fee wasn’t really being collected for a while, even though it was a listed fee (I’m assuming when people were paying at the end of the process vs now, when we are currently paying upfront at application, but that is just a hunch).

Everything is higher than what you expect in this process, unfortunately.

It’s a joke. AIMA opens a tender to contract the development of a new portal for EUR 208,000.00.
