My lawyer mentioned they aren’t doing any renewals at the moment which I’m not sure how to understand

I have a feeling you may end up switching to a new lawyer if your current one goes on like this..

FWIW, while it’s hard to disagree with the conservative position from @tommigun, my lawyer (from a big/multinational law firm that does a lot of GV) was also very adamant that 2 weeks in the first 2 years was fine. I guess you have to decide whether to take your chances.

My lawyers flip-flopped on this: around when I got my first card they were saying the regulations will be updated and 14 days anytime in the 2 years is fine. Then I asked about 9 months into my first card and they were saying I should do 7 days in the first year to be careful. It caused me and my spouse immense stress. We ended up traveling 14 days in the beginning of my 2nd year. Then I did an online automatic renewal where they didn’t even check travel dates.
