ARI Holders (Stage 5)

I have paid my DUC for TRC on july 31, 2024.

I happened to have lawyer contact AIMA the status, they said that it is with printing department.

Mine took 2 weeks to receive the card for primary applicant and four months for the family - summer vacations? :). So it is pretty unpredictable.

Summer in portugal in may to August, that is 4 months only . Is the whole of government offices in portugal be dysfunctional for 4 months is beyond my grasp.

I paid june 31st and there is no sign of cards.

Makes me feel better about my July 11th payment and no card

Also my daughter ( 12 years), from April had the approval and still waiting the card??

june 31st

Well, there’s your problem right there.

In all seriousness, we paid July 30 for the family cards, and haven’t received them, so it is helpful to see the earlier data point, thanks.

We paid for our first family cards on 6/26/24 and have not received them yet. My lawyer told me cards are taking about 3 months to get issued and delivered.

I paid for card on June 27, 2024. It has been more than 3 months now, but I have still not received the card.

We paid for primary applicant’s card in early June and family member’s card in mid-July. Cards were printed shortly after that and received by our lawyer a few weeks later. So I don’t think it’s the case that cards are taking 3 months - maybe only some are.

I hate this stupidity at every step of the process. first pre approval, then biometrics appt, then final approval and now cards. Nothing has been pleasant so far.

Well the new law guarantees the citizenship clock is started at biometrics (or earlier).

So why rush for the card? Less fees and less stay requirements until citizenship if the card comes later.

The clock only starts if you have your residence card in hand at the time your five-year mark is reached. Otherwise, you just keep waiting…

I just posted our timeline in Stage 4, but with respect to cards, we paid the DUC for my dependents on 30 July, and just received their cards yesterday and today, with a 2-year validity period starting in mid-September.

So, we have finally all made it to Stage 5. Now we can stress about renewals in ~2 years…

Okay, if the delay between biometrics and card is approaching 5 years, file a lawsuit. Then immediately file citizenship and you might not even to renew once. Enjoy saving money and time.

But so far the delays are not that long.

  1. The five years is supposed to start from application, not biometrics. Biometrics is supposed to be worst-case scenario.
  2. Many on this forum have filed lawsuits and lost because their case was deemed insufficiently urgent.

Yea, I’d say if you are on your 4th year of waiting for the first card, it’s about time to start filing lawsuits.

My lawyer said he received the resident card

My time line

  1. Intial application dec 29, 2021
  2. Biometric august 18, 2023
  3. Approval on 28th August 2023 and Paid DUC 6K on 31st July, 2024
  4. Card received to lawyer oct 2nd , 2024.

Lawyer is sending me by courier.

Good luck with rest of you
