Itās the latter, I believe. Keep your boarding passes, hotel receipts, etc. Give your NIF at every supermarket to show activity. It is easier to accumulate the paperwork rather than trying to explain something later. Trust me: a piece of paper in Portugal goes a long way!
Yes, this is what weāve been told to do by our lawyer.
Iād also suggest that you scan these things sooner rather than later, because the print can start to fade fairly quickly.
No
In fact you may not even get an entry or exit stamp in your passport if you present an ARI card on arrival / departure.
Once you have a residency card itās no longer necessary under EU rules for them to do so - if you really want stamp ask for it if they donāt.
Is anybody aware of a step-by-step guide for somebody who has received their residence card and is moving to Portugal? Iām aware of (and prepared to trawl through) the sporadic discussions of applying for the ā SeguranƧa Social and ā Utente de SaĆŗde, as well as the massive Files section of the Americans & FriendsPT Facebook group, but would love to have something in the form of a to-do list if one exists.
Thanks!
Edit: answering my own question, the āActivities After Arrivalā document in the AFiP group seem to mostly fit the bill, but Iāll leave this post up in case somebody else has the same question or has other suggestions.
Hey Bonnie. May I ask if you have got renewal slots for family members through lawsuit yet ? If so, what is the renewal fee ? Wondering if itās newest reduction 177 euros still or sth else. Thank you.
I asked the same question in this forum a few months ago as we arrived here on July 1 and I was also directed to the same Facebook group where I found the same document as you. Itās very helpful though summer time was not the best time to arrive and expect to get things done in Lisbon. Expect to fail three or four times for each process before you eventually make it through and get what you need. Itās 24 days now since our first (of four) attempts so far to get the SNS number and still no joy. But itās August so maybe September will see some action.
Could you post that document here? Some of us donāt have a facebook
Did anyone hear about reducing ARI card renewal fees?
yes, our lawsuit was affirmative. we were provided with 2 slots for biometrics 2 months apart. i was charged ā¬605.10 for the first one. I have NO idea why. the second appointment is in a few days so my son is literally flying there for 3 days to have his biometrics and return. Out lawyer said to plan on paying the same amount fo the second biometric visit.
Would love to learn the rationale for that fee, if you happen to find out.
Anyone have any experience regarding correcting mistakes in the details listed on their first issued residence cards?
My dependents FINALLY had their cards issued recently after final approval, but 2 of them have incorrect details listed for āplace of birthā that will not match their passports.
Our lawyers are dealing with correcting the mistakes with the immigration office, and getting new cards issued, but am wondering how long this typically takes to resolve?
Weeks? months?
Anyone have idea how long it may take to get first temp resident card after we paid duc on july 31, 2024.
Mine came about 3 weeks after we paid my sonās DUC (which came about 6 weeks after we paid mine, the primary applicant).
Thank you very much for the reply, we will see what happens after 6 weeks.
FYI I paid the final fees on June 24 and still havenāt received the card yet.
Did you happen to file lawsuit about SEF/AIMA inaction at any stage?
I did to get biometrics appointment.
No I have not filed a lawsuit
Same here, I paid end of June and no cards yet. My biometrics was at coimbra.
I did biometrics for a family of four in the beginning of January 2024 in Lisbon. We got my card (primary applicant) in June, two other ones came in a few weeks later, and the final card just came in a couple days ago. That one may have been delayed because the family member was issued a new passport in the meantime so we had to send them a scan of the new passport.
Is it through a lawsuit?
