I hate to say it, but in August, there is ZERO chance that any lawyer is not on vacation. I keep getting responses that itās still not opened for renewals but i do not trust they are trying every day, every office, day and nightā¦ if you know what I mean. I will wait end of August and then cancel attoenrys and take my paperwork and try to get appointment myself. Any thougts on this?
If all the lawyers are on vacation, I assume the bureaucrats are as well
I was told that August is silly season in Portugal and not to expect anything to get done - government, private companies, or otherwise.

Thatās very true, last year I had to wait indefinitely to get the documentation done for the purchase of my property.

I will say this: last year we got our applications completed in late June/early July, and got our pre-approvals in late August. So either they got the work done in July and it sat for a month (possible, but given all other timelines, unlikely) or they actually got some work done in August. Also note that in August of 2021 they were all still working from home.

Yes.sā¦ attorney says nothing. But is not allowing me access to the portal. So i am thinking on pulling my file from them. Thoughts?

There are many discussions here about how to access the SEF portal.
If your attorney processed your application and filed your documents with SEF through the SEF portal, there are many reports that the individual applicant canāt access the portal because the attorney accesses the portal as a single logon for all his/her clients.
As to the notion of switching to another attorney, Iād consider that carefully. I, in fact, had this thought myself at one point, but decided against it. And I am glad I stayed with my current attorney. The entire process took much longer than Iād expected, but it was not the fault of whatever my attorney did (or did not) do.
I have my initial two year temporary residency card, but have not gone through the renewal process yet.

Thank you. I am coming to the same conclusion myself. Smaller firms are set up in the way that they can have few passwords for fewer clients. But I do agree this is SEF holding foreigners hostage after taking their money upfront for Golden Visa investment.

We just had our initial biometrics last week, and I asked the question of renewals in 2 years.
Our attorneys said other than the 1600 slots open in July there has been nothing else of substance.
What they are pushing for and they think it might happen (at least before I have to worry about renewals in 2 years) is automatic renewals, which is what happens for every other residency permit in Portugal.

no, i have been waiting for any appointment since 2020, and both my lawyer and myself are on the sef webpage refreshing hourly.

We and a number of our friends were able to get appointments at the end of June for the beginning of July and did the biometrics in Porto and Guarda. Bugger all since then. Anyone got a card who did biometrics in July?

no idea, but none that i can see over the sef ari portal, or was i given any letter to book an appointment from SEFā¦ I dont know what has costed SEF time and effort so far
