Just got the first card.

Congratulations! Lawsuit or no lawsuit? I’m Coimbra August 2023, you’re the first I’ve seen post-March so that’s exciting.

No lawsuit. Cards for spouse and one child arrived today. DUC payment request for other child received today from Funchal AIMA office.

We are grateful to see progress. Now we need to buckle down on our Portuguese- A2 language proficiency in 2 years. :slightly_smiling_face:

No lawsuit.

Pretty sure there have been a fair few reports of Coimbra biometrics post-March getting final approval? Think I’ve seen May and maybe July, from memory.

Two weeks after final approval, I received my first GV card. Much faster than I anticipated. Yet my dependents are still waiting for biometric appointments, anyone else in this situation? Please shine a light if you can🫡

Biometric Lisbon, Feb 23rd 2023. nothing yet.
wife and kids still “under analysis” status; initial application March 2022, three months after my application

I got final approval on Dec. 10, 2024. Still waiting for my family’s approval. Biometrics in Lisbon, no lawsuits.

My timeline:

  • 10 Dec 2024 - Final Approval
  • 22 Nov 2022 - Biometrics in Lisbon
  • 6 July 2021 - Pre-approval
  • 14 May 2021 - Application submitted and analysis payment

I’m pretty excited. I realize now that I’d given up hope. Now I need to start learning Portuguese.

I know this is really taking a stab in the dark, but assuming the primary applicant has already been approved, and the dependents are doing biometrics early Jan, are we looking at a month for final approval and another month for the card to be printed on the current schedule? Any point begging at the biometrics as we are waiting for the cards to be able to get my kid to do something he would otherwise be able to. (With lawsuit - just to be clear as it seems to make a difference)

Finally time to open the champagne! :champagne:.

My husband’s card finally arrived. as predicted, nine weeks after confirmation of final approval and payment of DUC.

It’s mind blowing that this GV journey started in December 2021, so took almost three years to complete, and oh boy what a challenging journey it has been, but we are extremely thankful that we now finally have our cards in hand!

My first question to the lawyer: when do we have to start the renewals process? :grimacing::scream:

Good luck to everyone still waiting :crossed_fingers:

My husband received final approval early Dec and I had not even been called for biometrics (his biometrics was in Oct 2023). Yesterday, lawyers got a notification from AIMA that they had scheduled my biometrics in Lisbon for March 26, 2025. This is after lawyers sent AIMA a reminder that I was lagging far behind him.

I received my residency card last month (Lisbon Biometrics Oct 2022) but my wife still has not received her biometrics yet. My lawyer claims she bugs AIMA on a regular basis but its pretty absurd at this point.

Any suggestions short of filing a lawsuit?

@SoulSkier many of this forum have reported that emails to AIMA go unanswered. I would file a lawsuit.

I don’t know what your long term goal or the basis of your investment is with your GV, but if it’s to apply for citizenship for the both of you, then you’ll need to maintain your investment for that much longer until both (or all of you) complete your citizenship formalities.

I’m super hesitant to file a lawsuit because I don’t wanna spend another penny on this, not too mention the cost of having to put our lives on hold for multiple years. They already jacked the DUC rate up over €1,000 each since we first started the process.

Hi folks,

I did my biometrics in Lisbon (March 2023) and I have just received an email from AIMA about the new method and the need to upload documents and attend a biometrics appointment and I was wondering if I need to go through that, or just disregard the email since I have already done the biometrics? I don’t have access to the online platform, so I cannot check my status. I have reached out to my lawyers, but I do not expect a quick reply, so I thought I’d ask here instead?

Hi! Received same exact email and same as you, March 2023 Lisbon biometrics - also reached out to attorney and waiting. Not sure if this email was sent to all who had biometrics in Lisbon in March 2023 or directed specifically to me?

Did it have the line “Caso o pedido de concessão de ARI já tenha sido formalizado, deverá desconsiderar a presente notificação.”

If so, I think that means if you’ve done biometrics, you can disregard the email.
