Awaiting Final Approval (Stage 4)

Congratulations! We have almost exactly the same timeline with biometrics in Porto on March 13! Fingers crossed that we see our cards soon!

Congrats
but for those of us who didn’t luck into “AIMA’s new process for 2025” (I missed it by just 9 days, others on this thread have been waiting years since their Bios for cards) this is just mind-blowing unfair :exploding_head:

Heck, there’s people on the old process who’ve just been trying to pay their final 6k for longer than your new payment to cards experience.

Can we sue AIMA for being sociopathic?

What is your investment? Was it real estate or a fund?

Parabéns ! Can I ask where your biometric appointments were ? We had ours end Jan in Lisbon and our lawyers are still to receive our cards.

Not sure “Fair” and “AIMA” can be used in one sentence. There is no fairness in torturing people like that. At the same time, I guess not everyone is trying to protect their rights by filing a lawsuit. For us it was the key thing that helped. Otherwise we would surely got stuck with the same process.
And I am honestly not sure if the new AIMA 2025 process has anything to do with it, as it was introduced after we got our biometric appointments.
Being in your shoes I would sue crap out of them by that time. Did you try this route?

It’s a real estate

Did you pay it with a credit card or debit card?

Thank you. Mine was at the same place also real estate end Jan. No card yet. Paid on the day itself under the new process. GV process volatility as usual

Debit card from MilleniumBcp

I also sued, but lost the Portuguese lotto on that one too (see here).

Where you were super-lucky was in getting a Bios appointment in 2025 (new process) instead of '24 (old process). I moved heaven and earth to make a 17-Dec '24 Bios appointment - wishing now I’d said “Sorry I can’t make it, can I do Bios in 2025 instead?”

I knew the PT GV would be bureaucratic. But I never thought it would be so chaotic, senseless and based on pure luck. To quote someone who messaged me privately about this, it’s “a disgrace, and speaks very poorly of the integrity and trustworthiness of the Portuguese State.”

Congratulations, where did the approval come from - AIMA Lisbon or AIMA Madeira?

Received my approval email today. Applied 12/21, biometrics 11/23 in Faro. No lawsuits filed. And not sure what office issued the approval as all communication went through LegalSquare. I was asked to pay 6,179.40, so I assume approval has not yet come through for dependents who applied on the same day or shortly after and all completed biometrics with me. Happy to be moving on and seeing more progress across the board.

Congrats - please let us know if you were able to actually pay that 6,179.40

Update: My DUC was finally generated and paid. €6179.40. Final approval was back in February, another casual 2.5 month delay because why not. Will post the full timeline again once I receive the card, because I’m expecting the printers to go down for half a year.

Hi everyone,

I completed my biometric appointment in May 2023 in Lisbon, which I received after winning a lawsuit.

In the ARI portal, my status still shows as:
Status of the application: Application accepted (Situação do Requerimento: Candidatura Aceite)

Is this normal? Shouldn’t it have changed by now to something else, like “under analysis” or “awaiting payment”? Has anyone else experienced this?

Also, I find it strange that under the “Appointment Schedule”, I can’t see any record of the biometric appointment I already attended.

Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks!

Final update to our timeline:

Husband and son applied 11/21
Daughter applied 01/22

Congratulations, has Legal Square been able to generate your DUC and make a payment ? They have been telling me the system is down for 3 months now.
