It is the most ridiculous scenario I’ve ever witnessed!
Biometric done in April 2022 and now we are almost in April 2026 and the applicant was asked to redo the biometric…
I feel your pain and very sorry to hear what you have been experiencing.
I think that unless you must have Pt GV for a specific reason, just abandon it. Simply just quit the process to have a healthy life!
Don’t quote me, as I didn’t experience this first hand, but I could swear I’ve read a few select cases of “did biometrics forever ago and now have to redo them, no card ever received”.
I’ve used Caiado Guerreiro ever since the application in late 2021. In the earlier days they were a bit less good / less responsive (though even then they would ultimately get the right thing done). In the last year or two I’ve had a really great experience with them, always quick to reply to emails and fully process and answer my questions, and have been on top of whatever things I needed from them. I would recommend.

So over the course of about 6 weeks, (a) if we’re super-generous AIMA has got through 6 weeks of applications (to end-March '24), (b) if we’re more realistic AIMA is still stuck in February '24.
Same old “lack of capacity” blah, blah… despite almost all the MI and CPLP backlog completed last year, and the promise to now focus on GVs

I read in a facebook group about this same situation happening to someone else. They mentioned that AIMA has lost their digital biometric records and so needed them to come back and do it again.

Today I received notification of Final Approval, now moving on to pay fees.
Question for those that received their cards recently:
How long is the Residence valid for?
And if less than the required 10 years for citizenship, do we need to pay another EUR 6K for every renewal?

Congratulations!.. Now you are stuck at the next hurdle - getting your card. 
Should be valid for two years.

Not 6K, but depending on your investment type: real-estate will be ~190.00 €, funds - ~3700.00 €. The fees are bound to go up by the time your next renewal is due.

You have to pay fees at biometrics, at least since January 15, 2025. Prior to that, you paid after biometrics, when your residency was approved.

My lawyer updated me my latest update from AIMA is pending for security check .. anyone idea of what that is ? Thanks
If by that they mean ‘Transferido SIISEF’ status, that means…
I personally have been stuck in ‘Transferido SIISEF’ for almost 6 months now

I was stuck at this step for a while as well. At this stage apparently AIMA sends a request on you’ somewhere’ (police, internal security, who knows?) and waits to get back information that you are not in some black-listed database. I believe it can take several months for them to hear back, since the service they send it to is also overwhelmed with requests.
