It was in Lisbon.
Why does it take that long time to get approval for biometric?
I eventually learned the true meaning of the phrase “Proxima semana”…
@rogergan68 just out of interest, do you happen to know the link to the new SEF tariffs?
The one that comes up on google search shows 2022 tariffs (lower)…
I am sorry if this has been asked before but my husband had biometrics March 2nd and his status has now finally changed to Transfered. Can anyone tell me what this means? Thank you
The answer seems to be “approved”
Really??? That was quick, so does the tab below mean they are issuing the bill for him to pay? OMG I hope so
Jesus, Porto is really cooking
Now that my Husband has been approved, we need to add me as we have not done that yet. I need to get our Marriage certificate apostilled. We were married in the USA as part of our honeymoon over there.(UK Citizens) I have managed to get a certified copy from LA but now have to get it apostilled. Can anyone tell me how I do this, I understand it needs to be done in California as Lisbon Embassy can’t do it but do I need to use a US solicitor to organise it or can I do it myself in a timely manner?
Yes, apostilles for state-issued documents like your marriage certificate are issued by the state. Check the California Secretary of State website for the process. In my case I was able to get the entire process done remotely from the UK without an attorney, but state practices will no doubt vary. The SoS office will probably have an enquiry phone number, and should be able to advise.
Thank you so much
California married person here. Once you have a certified copy of the marriage certificate, you can mail it along with the form and fee to the California Secretary of State’s office in Sacramento. Last time I was having it done (May 2022) it took about 6 weeks. Because you are in the UK, you may want to have a service do it for you so they can then get it to you (or directly to your attorney in Portugal) and you won’t have to worry about a check for the fee, etc.
CA Secretary of State: Request an Apostille :: California Secretary of State
Google “California Apostille service” to get services. Secretary of State also has an office in LA so services there can also walk it in from what I understand.
I don’t know about California but we got married online in Utah during Covid (British citizens living in Hong Kong at the time).
I can order a new apostilled marriage certificate directly off the Utah County web site and it is couriered to me within a week. It’s a trivial and cheap process - a matter of clicking a few tick boxes on a their web site. I did this most recently in January when we needed a new marriage certificate for the biometrics and got it sent directly to our lawyers in Lisbon.
I guess counties in California do not offer an online service that includes the apostille step like this?
The marriage certificate copy and the apostille are different government offices and different procedures in California. Unfortunately, they are not done as a single process.
Marriage is Utah’s primary industry so I am not surprised they make this procss super easy.
Just curious: what causes british people living in hong kong to get e-married in utah?
Keeping the discussion on topic for the GV process… we were living in Hong Kong and needed a marriage certificate for our Portuguese Golden Visa applications in 2021. We were going to go back to the UK to get married in Scotland (where marriage requires less documentation than England) but Hong Kong’s borders became ever more closed and travel ever more impossible so I looked for alternatives. Thank goodness for Utah County and the team in the Provo government office who do online weddings with Zoom. Very straightforward and economical process with an apostille marriage certificate that was good to go in our hands within weeks.
Just curious as to why you didn’t get married in HK?
Off topic to the discussion on Portuguese Golden Visas but there’s no legal framework to get married in HK.
Hi Guys,
I just found something strange, I am seeing “transferred” for me and my 3 dependents.
I have received and paid the DUC, and awaiting for the card. 2 of them - my parents - havent received the DUC yet and my wife hasn’t even reveived the pre-approval yet as she applied in June 2022. Wonder, if the status makes sense?
