Awaiting Final Approval (Stage 4)

Tommy - all smart cards in Portugal are printed by the Casa de Moedas in Lisboa and Porto (INCM). Normally, what should have happened is SEF issue instructions to the INCM to print and send it to the address on your application for your official representative in Portugal, unless you specified otherwise. Delivery is by courier (ie signed delivery by CTT).
You need 2 pieces of info from SEF - have they sent info to INCM to print, and have SEF been informed by INCM that it is already printed? INCM ask for delivery by CTT within 24-48 hours after printing. Somebody has to be there for it to be signed, otherwise CTT leave a notification where (post office location) you can pick it up, or you can call CTT to state when they can pass by again for somebody to sign.

Many thanks @Onward, I guess obtaining this info from SEF would be challenging
I already emailed to my SEF bio office but they replied as it’s nothing to do with them and referred to their IT
For whom I have no email address of course…

By the way in doing all that I figured out that “SIISEF” (as in “Transferido SIISEF” status) stands for “Sistema Integrado de Informação do SEF” - so probably, yes, something to do with IT :grimacing:

We finally got final approval on 31 July 2023 after doing biometrics on 19 July 2022. Pretty excited today!

I assume you must have the charm of the devil himself, with all the headway you have made in reaching and getting responses from SEF - so I didnt think this step would pose a challenge!
My sense is that if it has gone to the SIISEF, you are looking at the last mile. Envious of your progress!

I have been following up with my lawyers, and this is their latest update. My biometrics was in Lisbon on 31 January 2023 and I had filed my application on 29 November 2021 :

Kindly note that at the moment we do not have any news yet regarding your application, which is still being analysed by the immigration Office.
This entity is still facing a backlog which by its turn is creating a delay in all the applications analysis and phases. For this reason, the immigration Office is still doing instructions of applications whose biometrics occurred during august last year.
This means that we cannot predict how much longer it will take to reach you application.
Nevertheless, we will keep insisting and keep you posted should we have any news.
Additionally, there is also the possibility to fill in a lawsuit against this entity in order to try to expedite the procedure, even if without guarantees.

It’s interesting to note that they are suggesting legal action to expediate approval.

Wow, I am amazed they would suggest a law suit…

I’m amazed anyone that did biometrics in Lisbon let it ride rather than have a lawsuit ready to go on the 90th day

I think the issue is that it takes so long to get a court date and go through the process, that you may as well save the money and wait for the card. You won’t get it any sooner through the court.

Court is about three months from what I’ve seen? Lisbon is taking over a year now

Could be, but I was told it take a year. I imagine it depends on where the court is, ha, ha. Hopefully not Lisbon…

Per my lawyers: Lawsuits can be filed with Urgency, which, if the court accepts the Urgency, should resolve the case within 3 months or so.

Good to know. :+1:

Thanks for the encouragement, I think I underestimated myself
Was able to contact SEF IT directly and they have solved at least one other issue for me on the RF part… :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:

I think SEF underestimated you too!

@Onward I suggest you to replace ‘SEF’ by ‘PT government agencies and members of the Assembly of the Republic’.

Good news on a Tuesday, in that my card has been received by the lawyers.
That was 55 calendar days since payment…

And 7.5 months since biometrics, right? Well done Porto/you. Green with envy!

That’s right, the biometric was Porto in January.
