Awaiting Final Approval (Stage 4)

Congratulations!

Wendy

Tommy,
Congrats!!!
When you sucessfully paid the DUC and what is the issuing date on your card?

I would like to know the answer to that question too.

Thanks,

Wendy

Looks like there is some movement relating to my application.
My lawyer has received a letter from the SEF asking for updated documents from my bank, relating to my investment units in the funds I applied too and purpose of initial transfer of funds as the earlier letters for obvious reasons are over a year old now.
Crossing my fingers, hopefully I am somewhere near the end of this long wait.

A year’s wait after biometrics in Lisbon!
But hopefully when SEF confirms you still have your GV investment, you can pay & receive the card! :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi, guys. Now My wife and I got our residence cards.

We applied for GV by buying properties. And we only stay 1-3 months every year in Portugal. And of course we already have an accountant to manage the rent receipts and rental income register at AT. I need to pay IRS for my rental income.

Is it mandatory for us to have a tax representative (representante fiscal) in Portugal now? Or we can not appointing a tax representative by registering with the Portuguese Finance Portal’s electronic notification system? Many thanks!

Any idea which biometrics month/year is Coimbra approving at the moment ?

@jameshkchan
Not the best thread for the subject but briefly my understanding:

if you keep your tax residency outside of PT, but you receive some PT-sourced income, then you need to hire a tax rep.

Thanks, tommigun!

Latest I heard from Coimbra was about 4th Jan 2023.

Do you know what certificates/letters were required?

This is the latest approval from Coimbra in the GV Timeline Database, too (it was approved on Jul 17):

Biometrics to final approval timeline view:

https://nomadgate.com/portugal/gv-timeline/timeline-biometrics-approval/

Alternatively, see the calendar view:

https://nomadgate.com/portugal/gv-timeline/calendar/

(Set filters to Biometrics location is Coimbra & Final approval is not empty).

They asked for these

  • Certificate proving the ownership of the units, free of liens and encumbrances, issued by the entity responsible for maintaining an updated register of unit holders, under the terms of the law, the respective management regulation or contractual instrument, taking into account that the certificate attached to the application had already been issued for about one year at the date of formalization of the application.

  • Statement issued by Banco Comercial Português detailing the dates and respective amounts of the international capital transfers made to the applicant’s account, as well as the purpose for which the transferred funds were intended.

In addition my lawyer also suggested to get updated letters from the fund houses I applied to ( however this was no specifically asked by SEF)

These documents and certificates were already given by your bank and the fund house initially, when you submitted your application, they just want a current version.

They have given a time of 20 working days to submit these documents by post (not upload). There is also a bit of a challenge getting these as some of the signatories are enjoying thier August vacations!

I also think getting these updated investment documents seems to be a new thing.
A friend of mine who got his approval around 6 months back was not asked for these

thanks for the heads up

Should we be celebrating this LMAO

I got my DUC from lawyer on Jul 28, transferred money to lawyer’s office and they paid the fee on behalf of me on Aug 1, but the website still shows “issued” instead of “settled” under payment. It has been almost two months. Anyone had the same experience?

Don’t you mean 2 weeks?

There’s an issue with the SEF link to the state financial system - documented on the SEF FB account and Portuguese version of their website.

It was fixed a few days ago but they are backlogged catching up. When we paid ours in July it took 2 weeks so you should be close.

Yes, I meant two weeks…
Thank you for the info!

@Garbonzo Even my lawyers (CCA) have suggested a legal case against the SEF if my approvals do not come by end-Sep (bio on 3rd March at Faro). I have an additional pain point (my second kid born after my initial application is yet to receive pre-approval, and its already been a year) for which also they have suggested this legal route. They say this will not affect my existing application decision in anyway. :unamused:
