Just wondering if anyone did biometrics in Coimbra this Feb (2024)? When can we expect to Final Approval?
I have a friend who did his biometrics in Coimbra in August 2023 and is still waiting. I did mine in Feb 2023 in Coimbra and got my final approval in early June this year. Just received my card.
We did in march 2023 at coimbra and got our approval in june. Paid end of july. Waiting for cards now.
Thanks guys for the feedback. It seems Coimbra is still moving forward, although a bit slow…
I’m curious if anyone has reached the point of deciding to sell their Golden Visa Investment?
My wife and I made our purchase in April 2021, I was pre-approved in Aug 2021, gave biometrics in Oct 2022 (Lisbon). My wife hasn’t even been pre-approved nor had her biometrics appointment scheduled.
Our legal team has not been very communicative, meanwhile like many others, our lives are in a holding pattern and our 280,000 Euro remains tied up.
And now it appears AIMA employees are going on strike through end the year.
AIMA workers announce strike from August to December
We are getting to the point where we want to go another route in another country. I’m sure we aren’t the only ones with these feelings.
How did you receive your card? I went to citidao in Coimbra and I was told that my card is delivered in Lisbon SEF. They gave me the tracking code and it says that card was delivered there. Did you receive the card from Imprensa Nacional Casa da Moeda or AIMA?
I have been thinking of the same. I too got my biometrics on October 7’22, almost 2 years. Just when I was getting some hope after hearing of some October’22 Biometrics getting approved… Now this Strike for 4 months… that too just after the Holiday season… Is this a trailer before the movie begins, what do we expect if we move there!!!
June 23 here - Nada thus far
But waiting time counts. So doesnt that count for something?
Just wondering.
Under the new law, your citizenship clock started ticking in 2021 (best case) or 2022 (worst case). You just need 1 card issued by 2026-2027 and you can apply for citizenship. Which you can get with a lawsuit closer to the time. In the meantime you are saving money not having to travel for renewal biometrics etc. Why would you give up now?
Because we have been waiting to relocate to the EU for over 2 years and our lives are in limbo.
@SoulSkier then you should shop around for a lawyer to file your lawsuit with urgency. If you are actually living in PT/strong intention to live there, they will prioritize you to the front of the line. I assume you can afford the 1000-1500 EUR that lawyers are charging for lawsuit.
I have a tough time spending any more $ after this much time, not too mention the fees seems to have gone up another 1,000 Euro each applicant from what was originally quoted. Also we are now hearing rumors you can’t sell your investment after getting permanent residency, which is different that was told to us.
If your country allows dual citizenship there is no reason to get PR, just get citizenship. In fact with the new law you will be eligible for citizenship years before PR.
You should probably have applied D7 in the first place, which was processed very quickly in 2021. But now D7s are also slow since AIMA has broken down. Since you already did ARI biometrics, I think you could just press forward with a lawsuit.
No need to go to wait or go to court, if you & wife applied for GV in 2021 you have the legal right to move/ live to PT already.

@JS
First - yes, you can just pack up and relocate now, as you have the full legal right to live in Portugal and access all public services based on your applications timing.
Second - I recommend you change your legal rep.
I think it was about 6th June? The start date printed on card was 12th July. We received the DUC for my son in early July and paid two days later. His start date on card was 16th July.
It was sent to my lawyers.
Seems it’s approaching yours.
