Oh, I tried… I got standardised response that “…we are processing the applications in chronological order…”, i.e. get lost!
Great to see another Faro approval from August 2023! So it seems they may be working through that month for Faro. My family members did theirs in Faro about a week after you, so I’m hoping they may not be too far off… I (primary applicant) got my card a few months’ ago.
Yesterday we got an email from AIMA requesting for my husband’s new passport (his old one had expired over a year ago)… we had done our biometrics in Lisbon November 22 …
We do not have any urgency so we did not file any legal case…
Am taking this as an extremely positive sign tho and hope our approval will come soon as it seems someone is looking at our file
I got my final approval in about 2 weeks after i submitted new passport copy. My bio was also in Lisbon in July 2022.
It is not the website, but aima contact or call center by phone.
Website is just bunch of static pages.
Phone number is on the website on contact information .
Here are the numbers
"
AIMA shares the following telephone contacts on that portal: +351 217 115 000; +351 965 903 700

Great news to hear this! We also did our biometrics in Lisbon in November 2022 and have not filed a lawsuit. Hopefully, we are next up in this very slow moving queue.
Well the post by another Lisbon 2022 biometrics person explaining that they had been asked to update their passport prompted me to login to my AIMA account and low and behold, the my status (and that of my dependents) has changed from “application accepted” to “transferred” (“Transferido SIISEF”). While I am awaiting confirmation from my lawyers, based on numerous posts in this thread, that means that we have final approval. I did not file a lawsuit.
My timeline:
My initial application: May 2021
Parents’ initial application: July 2021
Spouse’s initial application: September 2021
Biometrics: Lisbon - November 7, 2022
Final approval: ~October 4, 2024
Once again, no lawsuit filed. I was happy to wait for AIMA with the change in when the 5 year clock starts to run. Best case scenario is I can apply for citizenship in June of 2026 and my dependents in July and September, still within the 2-year validity period of our initial residency permits. Worst case is we have to wait until November 2027, 5 years from our biometrics. The wheels grind slowly, but they do move. Good luck to all!
Encouraging to see the first of November 2022 bios done in Lisbon getting processed. Our bio was March 2023, so long way to go…
Biometrics: Lisbon Nov 2022
Final approval: Oct 8 2024
Was thinking about lawsuit but the lawyers talked me down.
Now we wait for DUC and card. Just in time for the upcoming holidays.
Request: if you received final approval in the last six months or so, can you mention on here whether AIMA asked you to provide any updated documents before approval? For those of us coming up in the queue, it would be really helpful to know whether we need to refresh the paperwork. Many thanks.
Just received final approval this week, I was not asked to update documents before the change in status from “application accepted” to “transferred.” Incidentally I recently got a new passport that I sent to my lawyers two weeks before receiving final approval, and my lawyers said they would update my file with AIMA. I have no idea if my lawyer did update the passport prior to approval, but my old passport number is still listed on my AIMA page.
That said, my lawyers did tell me that while I have received final approval, they are now waiting to here from AIMA whether “they need any further documents or if we can issue the DUC for the GV concession.” So at least according to my lawyers AIMA could still request updated documents before allowing the DUC to be issued.
Has anyone else noticed a time gap between their status changing from “application accepted” to “transferred” and the time when the DUC could be issued?
No requests for updated info from me. Just an approval notice in the email with lawyer cc’ed. My lawyer just sent over the DUC payment slip. I need to wait till Thursday to be able to pay.
Just wondering if Coimbra is moving forward these months? Haven’t heard any for a while… It seems that the number of applicants who chose to do their biometrics in Coimbra is relatively small…
Yes I’ve seen a Coimbra approval recently - for May 2023 biometrics. I did mine in Coimbra in Feb 2023 and was approved in June. So they are making progress, albeit slow.
Am Jun23 Coimbra biometrics - ainda estou a esperar…
One detail I forgot to mention is that the approval email came from the Funchal office. So it seems like this piece of info is accurate, i.e. workload from Lisbon was distributed to spread the load.
I did Faro April '23 with my family - no word on any approvals yet - no lawsuit filed.
Same timeline here. No word at all … and maybe its worse that we are seeing non FIFO processing now.
