My attorney received the documents today and said AIMA is no longer letting anyone submit documents. If this is the case, has anyoneâs attorneys has been able to bypass this? Please let me know what your attorney did as I donât want our original application to be purged after 6 month.
What is your application status showing on portal?
It says: Awaiting analisys
To clarify, you (or your lawyer) received the AIMA email at the end of December / early January, and your application status was âawaiting submissionâ? And it now changed back to âawaiting analysisâ without anyone hitting the submit button by mistake?
Maybe I misunderstood. I read about the 6 months and documents on NomadGate and contacted her. She said we needed to get the documents to her as soon as possible in case we get called for our biometrics appointment. From what I understand from reading posts here, we will not get an appointment without submitting the documents.
Our application was accepted Feb, 2023.
Here is the email she sent: âYes. The documents arrived today.
Thereâs no need for a translation. Can be submitted in English.
However, unfortunately , the submission in AIMA website is not longer available.
We really have to wait for the appointment at AIMA to hand them in.â
If you (or your lawyer) received the AIMA email at the end of December / early January, and your application status was âawaiting submissionâ, then there are two possibilities:
- Your lawyer hit the submit button by mistake, or there was an IT glitch from AIMA â> others on this forum have remedied this by sending lawyers to the âlojaâ to talk to AIMA;
- AIMA has disabled submission of refreshed documents for ALL, and did so intentionally (either because processing capacity canât cope, or because of something more Machiavellian) â> this is serious allegation.
Doesnât your lawyer owe you a straight answer?
Absolutely! Thank you for the information. I will try to find out.
Sure thing!
Also, some people did not receive the notification email from AIMA (because of spam filters and other IT reasons), but saw their status change to âawaiting submissionâ on the ARI Portal. So the email doesnât matter at the end of the day.
Can you please tell me if I can create an account on AIMA or ARI portal? On AMIA it asks for an email and password, but I donât see a place to create it. My attorney will only send screenshots. You have been a great help, thank you!
Alas, I donât have access to my own account either. My lawyer uses the same login for hundreds of clients. At the beginning of the process, I saw an article on this forum about setting up oneâs own account on the ARI Portal and granting access to oneâs lawyer, but my lawyer said it would sometimes cause problems with notification emails (as in neither of us receives a notification email), so we decided that only my lawyer would have access.
I donât know if you could reclaim your account from your lawyer. I think others on this forum have done it.
I will try to do that. I really appreciate it.
Some folks mentioned back in Jan/Feb (either in this thread, or one of the many threads on the New GV Process / scheduling) that they would hold off refreshing their documents until Q2 because of restrictions on travel schedules (e.g. couldnât attend a biometrics appointment in May even if given one by AIMA).
Perhaps message them to check their status on the ARI Portal as well? If your lawyer says AIMA is doing this to all, and you want to verify.
I actually would prefer to wait until Q2 as we are going to be on vacation in Portugal in September. I also read something about the attorney going to a Loja, but of course canât find it now. I imagine any Loja would suffice?
I am concerned about the status of our application though. If it should say awaiting submission, then my attorney needs to get that fixed. Analysis looks as if we just submitted our application.
fwiw @wayfarer, we also got the AIMA email on 27-Dec and our status changed to âAwaiting application submitionâ - I just checked and itâs still in that state now. So perhaps possibility #1 is more likely here?
We have not resubmitted docs as we already completed biometrics in mid-Dec, and are told this is not necessary/relevant to us. Still no word on final approval, though.
Thank you for letting me know your application status. I have sent an email to my attorney about going to a Loja to fix the issue.
Update My attorney has now sent an email to AIMA asking them to allow the submission of documents and asking for clarification about the status of our application âAwaiting Analisysâ. Looks like it is up to us to be proactive.
I will keep everyone posted on whether it made any difference.
She also wrote: âLojas AIMA are not receiving anyone in person in related with Golden Visa applications. GV applications can only be processed by e-mail and online, in AIMA websiteâ.
Thank you to everyone who helped with this matter. I am so grateful for this forum.
No, thatâs not the case. I set up an account first on AIMA (then SEF) web site and added my attorney. Now we both receive the e-mails.
I think itâs my lawyerâs firm wide policy to lie on this point. Since they thrive on economy of scale, they would probably rather lose me as a client than deal with the consequences of me clicking things on an antiquated website. Theyâve treated me well otherwise, so I donât rebel.
@wayfarer My lawyer encountered a similar problem. I sent fresh documents following the request from AIMA in December and my lawyer says my portal was initially open for uploading of these documents but then the status changed to âem analiseâ and they can no longer be uploaded. She thinks it is due to a system error. She emailed AIMA but says they rarely respond.
Iâm worried this might be a black hole for my ARI applicationâŠ
Hi Noraa,
I am really worried about the same thing. Itâs awful when we do everything we are supposed to do on our end and now everything is completely out of our hands to get it fixed. I am going to stay on my attorney weekly to send the same email again and again. You may want to do the same. Let me know if there is any change on your end and I will do the same. I wonder if anyone else on this forum has had the same issue and had it fixed. If so, please reach out as it would be greatly appreciated.
Noraa, did you have to submit new apostilled documents again as the FBI docs are expired again.
My lawyer said that once the documents are submitted you cannot submit updates until youâre biometrics.
