Awaiting Pre-Approval (Stage 2)

For what little it’s worth, my family’s applications went in in early November 2022 and I’ve been expecting a similar timeframe as what you described: pre-approval around Nov 2023 and biometrics in Q1 2024. Crossing my fingers it’s not longer than that!

Gotta be any day now!

14th December 21
still waiting too

Sad to know this. Hope you and Nik get through soonest.

I am an end of June 2022 applicant. Someday, before my kids grow up, we hope to have our Pre-approvals too.

Isn’t it a bit weird that we haven’t see any good news on pre approval for weeks now? Is the pool of applicants on this thread really that small ?:face_with_monocle:

IIRC someone posted in the last week or so that their Dec 27th ish application saw movement.

But also I imagine as SEF gets closer to the end of Dec, there is likely to be less overlap with users here. Fewer days = lower chance of people here having applied in those days. The spreadsheet of application statuses only lists one person here as having applied after about mid month (Dec 29).

My lawyers confirmed today they’ve seen a “few” in recent weeks

I don’t suppose they mentioned application dates?

I like your theory, I hope it’s true

so funny @mazter09 :joy: (i know you are not laughing :joy: )

my lawyer (and a couple of other lawyers i cross checked my lawyer’s guidance against) tell me i should see “approved” soon.

at this point, i am just happy the portuguese government didn’t move the proverbial goal posts on us. did folks see the bill that was proposed late friday night? i have attached it here (portuguese + english-translation by google translate). i have also attached a prelim analysis of the bill by one of the law firms (‘prime legal’) that has many clients like us.

SEF continues to process applications - albeit at their usual snail’s pace. we can only say that they are processing december 2021 applications - not that they have finished processing applications up to a certain date in december. they did look at my application (27 dec 2021 submission) and requested a missing document (shaking my fist at my lawyer :rage:). at this point, as long as the portuguese government doesn’t try to move the goal posts on the people who have already applied, i am “happy” to wait

Hi -

I’m one of those individuals who was submitted December 16 2021, pre approval February 28, 2023, invitation for Biometrics March 28, 2023 and just returned from completed SEF appointment in Portimão April 13, 2023.

The experience was excellent, the woman at SEF was kind and very patient as my initial photo was a hot mess!

Awaiting husband’s pre-approval; his submission was January 30, 2022.

Hang in there everyone
it will come!

These are incredible timelines. May I have your wizard’s reference please, as the liquid luck potion that mine made is pretty useless.

My timeline is pretty similar. It’s basically luck of the draw of getting pre approved right before another group of biometrics appointments are released and then picking an early biometrics appointment

I believe biometrics are booked through the end of June? Or May? Presumably they’ll open another few month’s worth a few days before their current tranche is done like they did last time

What was the document your lawyer forgot to submit if you don’t mind my asking?

(My application was submitted without the bank declaration that the funds came from abroad, which has me a little worried whether they’ll reject the application outright, or give me a chance to provide that document)

it was the land registry certificate.

please check with your lawyer if they can update your submission with missing docs while your application is still “awaiting analysis” / “Aguarda Análise”.
