Awaiting Pre-Approval (Stage 2)

How do you know of this sad quota of 100 preapprovals per month? It really angers me that the D7’s are getting approved within days to weeks. I really wish I had known about these timelines before applying. Our lawyer told us 3mo for preapproval🤯

Not pre-approvals, final approvals. SEF publishes statistics each month: https://www.sef.pt/en/pages/conteudo-detalhe.aspx?nID=51

As you can see in February 2023, 130 GVs received final approval. And I believe they are setting records each month for final approvals, so that is about as good as it gets.

Unfair at every level, may be they will atleast take this whole year and next year for Dec 2021 Pre-approval.

They don’t have any accountability and probably more political than any logical

If USCIS delays approvals or unfairly denies applications, we can take them to court and have them force their hand.

Do we not have anything like that in Portugal

Yes

If I have any difficulties with going about my day-to-day life or travels into / out of PT because I’m not pre-approved, after 16 months, that’s exactly what I will do.

I applied Dec 29, 2021. I think I am 16 months already, do we file individually or there is some class action suit in progress?

I applied 14th December 2021
I’ve been advised it needs to be individual cases.
I was waiting until the ā€œnew SEFā€ was set-up before I took further action. I’m still inclined to wait, since I’m not actually impacted today i.e. I have no specific monetary damages as a result of the delay. As soon as I do, and the worst would be denied entry to PT or no longer eligible for PGV, then I will.

(FYI my advisors have been very deliberately communicating with SEF weekly, each message received but ignored, which will demonstrate the lack of action is on their side)

@Starts curious to know if your lawyers communicate to SEF by email or by letter?
I sent a formal letter (via lawyers) to SEF at the 90 days mark, but all I got back is the postal receipt…

These weekly ā€œrequest for progressā€ are sent by email, they get a receipt (either auto answer or read receipt) but nothing more. They’ve been doing this since October 2022.
(I understand courier was used for any formal documentation)

I am still hopeful SEF starts finishes December 2021 pre-approvals in the next couple of months.

But it seems kind of hopeless thereafter, if we can believe June 2022 was the highest volume of applications yet. If June 2022 applications take another 2+ years to pre-approval, yikes. Hopefully my lawyer has some useful data regarding that issue.

That may push me into lawsuit territory, as waiting so long feels pretty insane given how ARI applicants are already being treated. I do not see that getting better.

I’d just sue now frankly

I am an investor of two funds. One of them raised 54M Euros in the second half of the 2021 and 7M Euros in the whole 2022.

Congrats! what city you were applying to?

Preapproval doesn’t have any city associated with it, afaik

Well that’s definitely a potential source of some optimism. Thanks for sharing!

As it’s been already mentioned here Preapproval doesn’t relate to any city.

Looks like another quest is to get a biometric apointment , are there any tricks to get it faster?

As far as I understand the next slots for biometrics highly likely will be announced at the end of May.

I read an article last night that suggested missing biometrics appointments are sent to the back of the queue. That is almost as bad as never getting another invite!
