We applied for my daughter via family reunification on 27/1/22 and she got pre-approved on 5/5/22 on same day as me (main applicant) and the rest of our family. My application was 31/10/21.

I suspect anything but chronological, it seems to just a chatter. Yet I have seen some to many questions pre approvals before my date.
There is just zero accountability with respect to SEF or APMSA.

It is all online, How much long would it take a file to be looked at? Which may require bunch of mouse clicks
Seriously it seems to me it is intentionally slow, procrastinating and with malice .
There is nothing to sugar coat their inaction on the beaurocracy.

It is probably intentional. Looking at the statistics SEF provides for ARI approvals, it only makes sense if only 1 (maybe 2) person works in whole Portugal.
Yes. December 2021 application and still waiting for just pre-approval. It’s ridiculous. I am from a supposed ‘third world country’ and we are notorious for government inefficiency and bungling but can honestly say we have never, ever been treated with such disrespect as we have from the Portuguese authorities et al. Very sour taste in my mouth about the entire thing.

You could have hired a foreigner, got visa, got him into the country and execute that job and sent him back in that time you waited.

Hello folks, It has been almost 2 weeks since the last pre-approval case by SEF!

Hello everyone, it’s been 20 days since last update of someone getting pre-approval. Does anyone know new pre-approval in July?
If this article is correct, we are in for a very long wait. Only ~12000 visas have been granted over many years and there are ~7000 still in the queue to be processed …

Proposal: we should be able to include as-yet-unborn great-great-grandchildren under family reunification, since they will at least be alive to benefit.

Sounds like a misinformation. Maybe they meant someone that’s done their Biometrics on Feb 2022?

Possible if the application was under family reunification and the main applicant applied in Dec 2021. Still not great news. We should start celebrating when June 2022 starts to get approved AND we see faster approval times. This is possible since Everything from June 2022 was online instead of physical but In my opinion that would take it from ~150 approvals to more like ~250-300 approvals a month. Would certainly make things faster but will take multiple years to clear the backlog unless some major changes happen.
