Awaiting Pre-Approval (Stage 2)

For those with immediate family members (kids, spouse, parents) currently not on a pending application (and awaiting approval, from the 'dawg days of New Year’s Eve in 2021 (… Dec 2021)), is it practical to add the immediate family members to the application?

I also had the same question. I applied for the GV in April 23 alone but am wondering if it is possible to add immediate family members, reason being, to help their cases to get NHR before it ends

Yes, you can add a family member at any time during the process. The law maintains the Family Reunification of GV applicants.

We just got this email from our lawyers to schedule our SEF appointment. We can’t do it until after oct 14 because we’re in Italy but this is what we are being shown.

Applied dec 27, 2021 (2 adults and 2 children )
Pre-approval sept. 20, 2023
Notified of open SEF slots October 11, 2023
Hopeful for SEF appointment in October 2023

We’re trying to get the appointment for next week as we will be in Portugal.

Best of luck to all!!!

Grats! Avoid lisbon, Faro seems a month or more behind the expected time in the spreadsheet here, I think coimbra may be faster now

Hey Nicole. Great to hear that you got your appointment. Did you guys all applied at the same time for the Golden visa? And do you have to re-issue all your vital documents again and re-apostille them for the appointment?

Our lawyer informed that the age of the documents is just 3 months for the Police Clearance Certificate, 6 months for marriage certificate and 12 months for birth certificates. After that period, all of them has to be re-issued and re-apostilled, as I see in your case, you applied in 2021, so all of your documents submitted by then must have been already expired by now for your appointment?

Yes you do need to get all your documents re-issued and re-apostilled.

We also got some good news today. Main applicant - applied Dec 31, 2021. Lawyer informed us of pre-approval today (Oct 13, 2023). They found many slots in Coimbra, so booked for Oct 31. Dependent papers filed in March 2022, and no news yet from SEF. I will update the database. Thanks to everyone on this forum.

Only 11,357,428 applications from Dec 31 left to process!

This is good news. We are finally seeing some end of Dec numbers. Hoping that they move on to June 2022 soon. Less hoping, more praying

Scrolled to November on the GV tracking calendar, and a 2022 applicant has finally got a biometrics appointment!?

Not really… Those are family members linked with a primary investor who submitted his/her application on 27-Dec-2021. You should always filter the data on Primary Applicant (Investor).

There is only one new application (primary aplicant) each in February and April. Am i right?

If you are referring to 2022, I think that the answer is ‘yes, but…’ The SEF portal was closed to new applicants from Jan 1st through mid-June 2022, so there should be no new Primary applications between those dates.

We were told by our lawyers that they uploaded our applications (my family with myself as primary) in mid-February - they even sent me a screen shot. However, the application is not considered complete until you have paid your fees and received a confirmation from SEF.

In our case, the confirmation date for receipt of complete application is four months later, on June 13th 2022.

We are all hoping that the application dates being processed will move a lot faster when SEF finishes Dec 2021 applications. There will definitely be a quick jump to June 2022, but there are rumors there is a soul crushing queue of applications in that month, too.

My law firm, however, said Dec 2021 had more applications than all of 2022 combined, iirc. So I am slightly optimistic that my Sept 2022 application is only 2 years from pre approval instead of 5

So there are maybe more than thousand people like you who applied in jan, feb, march, april or may 2022 but they are on the waiting list of june 2022. My application uploaded and paid the fees in 7th july. Thats why im trying to understand what will happen

Very little sadly

Our own database shows significantly fewer applications in 2022, right? And Chinese applications probably continued to drop or stayed low throughout the year due to covid lockdowns / closures?

Maybe 2022 wont be so bad, if sef ever gets there.
