Awaiting Pre-Approval (Stage 2)

I recommend Porto.

I’m still waiting for Coimbra from 23rd Feb. They seem to have slowed down since AIMA came in, as someone who did their bios in Coimbra only about a week before mine was approved at least 6-8 weeks ago, so I’d expected to have got my final approval by now. Hopefully it’ll be imminent. Having just seen some pre-approvals / final approvals on here today, I wonder if AIMA’s new managers have been reviewing, and now told staff to move forward as before?

I am now living in Portugal and do not have preapproval (Dec 2022 applicant). I had a meeting with my lawyer to discuss whether we should start a lawsuit to speed things up. My lawyer says that it is too early in the SEF to AIMA transition to do so. AIMA will simply blame SEF (even though they’re the same people handling matters), and the lawsuit will get tossed out. He also informs me that he has an email update from AIMA that they are now working on Sept 2022 preapprovals.
Have all Dec 2021 preapprovals on this forum been accounted for?

Still waiting for pre-approval, applied Dec. 28, 2021, with Sep. 2022 dependents. Real estate. No special circumstances, no requests for documents.

erm… @tkrunning, am I correct in thinking the crowdsourced tracker here doesn’t agree with that claim at all?

Most Dec 2021 applications seem to have been preapproved, but there are still some pending - mostly from 28th to 31st. There does seem to be one primary applicant from Jan 2022 who has completed their biometrics. So, yes, I’ll believe Sep 2022 application pre-approvals when I see a few of them.

but… what about the other big backlog that built up for June 2022, when the SEF portal reopened after being closed for months? How did we fast-forward to September 2022 (besides lawsuits)?

Speaking of the sole Primary Applicant from Jan 2022 who already received their pre-approval and completed their biometrics:

@tkrunning - can you please ask that person to confirm their dates? (I guess you’re the only one who can see the mapping between the randomly generated Public IDs and the NG usernames)

June 2022 here, crickets so far…

This is what my lawyer said too. People who dont live in PT already appear to have missed the boat on getting a successful lawsuit.

We applied in January 2022, and still don’t have a pre-approval.

This is a nightmare…neither legal status nor minimum return on investment… incredible

Yup… don’t hear any mention of this rubbish in all those “sunshine and rainbows” PT GV articles and presentations, do we?

Sitting on 23 months and counting…

Even posts are drying up here. Perhaps this monstrous delay has sapped everyone of their energy and interest.

I keep checking this tread, as it is the best piece of information available. My lawyers are keeping quite and feed me breakfasts. For my question about the lawsuit- they just stopped responding.
We applied in late Dec 21…

It’s tough when it gets long past the point you should be pre-approved.
I was about to start a case (paid the lawyer) and miraculously my pre-approval came through the next week…
(Applied 7th December 21, pre-approved 21st November 23)

I have no regrets. The lawyer will apply the fee to my next case if needed…so maybe you can strike a similar deal, covers all bases - planning for worse, hoping for the best! Good luck

People might be expecting the AIMA transition to kill pre-approvals for a while.

Congratulations. This is great news as it means pre-approvals are still happening since the switch to AIMA.
