Can you elaborate on the second part? I didn’t get it at all
is there any category exist ARI category, did any body tried ?
Maybe only in some jurisdictions there is an “appointment category” on the VFS Portugal site for ARI Appointments. It is still a Schengen C.
It is a subcategory under Schengen Visa Type C which, in my experience, did not give segregated/dedicated quota/slots as to other subcategories of Type C and may just require different documentations.
That’s correct, it’s a sub-catergory. Only difference is the document list.
FWIW, since January 2025, VFS Portugal in China does not require an appointment if the applicant has previously held a Portuguese Schengen C visa. Not sure about other VFS in other centres.
If expired GV can be considered as PT Schengen type C, then no prior application is required. Of course it is just my reasonable assumption concerning VFS.
If you already hold an expired Portuguese Residence Permit, there’s no need to apply for a Schengen C visa. You can travel directly to Portugal.
The card is still valid as per legal decree: This extension was officially announced on the 25th of June 2024.
Then you need to get a prior clearance (Ok to Board) from the airlines: i knew Turkish and Emirates do that, and enter Schengen in PT.
Could you please explain a bit more? How do we get clearance before boarding with those airlines? Thanks
I was told to email lisinfo@thy.com with your Turkish booking reference and your extended expired card, and ask them to add a remark “ok to board” in your booking. For Emerates, I was told that it can be general contact center.
