In September 2018, the UAE Cabinet approved a law to provide retired residents over the age of 55 a long-term visa for a period of 5 years. The visa may be renewed if the eligibility criteria is met.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Wednesday launched an initiative for retirees from around the world to apply for a retirement visa in Dubai.
Eligible applicants must be older than 55 and have valid UAE health insurance.
Applicants must also fulfil one of these three requirements:
- Earn a monthly income of Dh20,000;
- Have Dh1 million in cash savings;
- Own Dh2m worth of property in Dubai.
Retired expatriates and their spouses can apply for the five-year visa with the possibility of automatic renewal online, provided the retiree continues to meet the criteria.
