Nationality applications submitted online
The IRN (National Registry Institute) informs that, for the purposes of applying the amendments to the Nationality Law, the date of submission of the application on the online platform will be considered.

In recent days, the online service platforms of the Institute of Registries and Notaries (IRN) have registered very high levels of usage, with a significant increase in the number of nationality applications submitted through the online channel, following the announced amendment to the Nationality Law.
Due to this extraordinary influx of accesses, technical constraints may occur in the processing subsequent to the request.
Understanding that this situation may cause disruption and concern to applicants for Portuguese nationality and their respective representatives, the IRN informs that, for the purposes of applying the amendments to the Nationality Law, the date of submission of the application on the online platform will be considered .
The IRN is making every effort to ensure the normalization of the operation of computer systems and to minimize the constraints experienced.
