You might ask… why France?

Well, a 4 year visa in Europe that costs €250 is pretty good value. There’s low paperwork. The country is beautiful, diverse and centrally located in western Europe. The cost of living is relatively low (if you don’t live in a major city like Paris). The quality of life and food is super.

The current government loves attracting entrepreneurs. There isn’t really much of an international startup scene here, and it’s all in French language anyway, but for us internationals that’s not really an issue as we connect with the entire world for business. With 400m+ consumers in the nearby countries the market is large.

It’s not perfect by any means but on balance it’s pretty good. Yes, the bureaucracy is bad, and there’s no service culture here, but people are generally super friendly and kind. Taxes are a minefield but if you’re setup elsewhere you won’t have much issue.

Hope you enjoy the research if you’re tempted.
