My lawyer claims that automatic renewals are open for any class of visa EXCEPT Golden Visa.
Just got a notice from my attorneys that one of my daughter’s (expired Dec, 2023) just went through today (and I have the invoice from AIMA with the Referéncia para pagamento)
Is it possible to change the address on GV card during renewal process? I am not able to change the address on NIF without changing the address on GV residence card.
I think so. You can enter a new mailing address on the form when renewing (that’s the only detail that you can change, as far as I recall)
You might want to ask your lawyer to check again. We submitted an automatic renewal yesterday (for a ARI card expiring at end of March), we received an AIMA payment reference, and payment was accepted this morning. So it appears renewals are open for at least Q1 and everything is functioning as it was last time. There was apparently a glitch when it first opened with no payment request generated after submitting the form, but that appears to have been fixed.
People say that for GV it worked only for family members this time, but not for the main investor. Anybody managed to do it being a main investor?
Neither here (main or family) – all says not available still… (cards expiration dates include January and March). Puzzling given the different experience by @wood.collies.0j above…
That is odd. I guess the real confirmation it worked will be when they send us the new card.
I’m meeting with my lawyer this afternoon about an unrelated matter so I’ll ask if they’ve had issues with other clients.
I met with my lawyer in Lisbon today. They confirmed that Q1 automatic renewals are indeed open again for Golden visas. But they also said some other client’s cards with Q1 expiry are being randomly rejected, as people have noted above.
My lawyer called IRN about the issue and they acknowledged that some cards are having issues, but they offered no alternative or explanation other than they are working on it.
I was also told that AIMA/IRN had planned to restart in-person renewals but were so overwhelmed by the size of the backlog that they have reopened automatic renewals until they work things out.
Thanks for all the info. I am the main GV holder for my family but as of this evening, still getting the error message when I try to do the automatic renewal on the SEF site. Why on earth would they switch off a system that was working well when they clearly don’t have the capacity to handle in person requests! But thanks to all for sharing about the random rejections- maybe they will resolve this soon. It gives me some hope before I have to struggle to get an appointment. And be nervous about traveling for months or more, despite selling my house and leaving my family to live and invest here.
Does anyone know if these changed fees are the pre or post online discount rate? I know that these are for the initial application, but renewal is usually 50% of these fees. Trying to know how sad to be since the AIMI portal should have let me renew last Friday, but had an error.
12 March, 2024
We would like to inform you that AIMA has update their fees. From now one the following values will be applicable:
Analysis fee - 605,10€
Residency card for concession purposes – 6045,20€
Edit: I did the math and I suspect these are after the online discount.
The spouse renewal we did last Friday was 605,10€ for analysis and 3022,60€ for card (so 50% discount on 6045,20€)
Did you have any luck? I tried renewing mine (expiring March 2024) and received the same message.
I have the same error and I am not hopeful that it will be fixed soon
Did you renew it yourself or did the lawyers do it?
Is it on the SEF.PT website?
Thanks
Our lawyer did it via the website
ARI.SEF.PT or SEF.PT ?
They’re two different sites. Could you please find out which one it is?
Thanks
sef.pt
But I’m told the site has been down for the past couple of days. Hopefully they’re fixing whatever issue was preventing people from renewing.
I can’t even log into the SEF website at this point. I get an error message saying my email or password is incorrect. The same email and password I logged in with yesterday.
I’m having the same issue.
