Is there any archive or screenshots either on NG or elsewhere where the Govt explicitly linked the GV program to eligibility for citizenship after 5 years?
I feel like there were but I don’t personally have any screenshots saved.
I’m not talking about pitch decks, marketing materials from lawyers, funds, real estate brokers etc. Actual SEF website, or Embassy websites that pitched the pathway and linked it to ELIGIBILTY for citizenship after 5 years
Well, here is a print-out to the relevant page from the Portuguese Consulate in San Francisco, California, USA, taken around early-to-mid 2021. It does not specifically state the 5 year requirement, but references the laws that governed the programme on that day, in their actual version. Hence the argument is that the investment planning was based on the requirements in-place on the day of application as defined on the official Portuguese consulate web sites.
Also, someone posted the link to the Portuguese consulate in Thailand, which is still active. It too lists the 6 years (which was the wait period in the past) for citizenship application and 5 years for permanent residency
The more you learn about governments and the history of money you realise most of them are a system for wealth extraction.
