I flew in via Dubai on Emirates, they have been running flights daily and haven’t missed one in the last month or so. But yes, many other Middle East airlines are not, and it’s definitely force majeure circumstances, and you should get a reschedule. The problem with AIMA is, who knows when?

Just finished mine today in Faro and it went smoothly. I applied sep/oct 2025.

My appointment was at 12 pm. I met my lawyer at 1145 and handed over my passport, notarized and apostilled SSN, updated and apostilled FBI check and boarding pass (to prove legal entry into Schengen). My biometrics were done at 1215 followed by document verification (handled by lawyer) and payment. I used my Visa card and paid in euros and there were no problems. I was done by 1250.

I stayed at Dom Bernardo which is a 5 min walk away. The Faro old town is also close by with many restaurants.

The AIMA location was not crowded at all. My lawyer said there were some problems with the system till 10 AM and there was some backup of appointments but it didn’t delay mine.

wow, you got lucky.

I invested in August 2025 and submitted my application in early September and I don’t even have a biometric appointment scheduled yet. It’s crazy how arbitrary this all is.

I guess AIMA might make the arrangement sequence based on the nationality. I had my appointment last week in Faro, on the same day, i saw another two applicants are also from my country as well. Even one of them is with same lawyer as mine. The rest of applicants are also either from Asia or their origin is Asia country.
My be you might need to wait for the next batch.

Any one who had biometric appointment when early Jan, do you hear anything progress from your lawyer about when will you receive your card ?

My lawyer told me they expect to receive it within 90 working days when I had my appointment in Apr. Does your layer also have similar assumption?

Does your layer also have similar assumption?

Mine said the same thing, but with air quotes and a caution that “90 working days” is really “at least six months”, and there is nothing binding them to that timeline in practice.

I had my biometrics at Jan 2025, but I still haven’t received the card. The 90-day period is totally a scam.

Your lawyer needs to check not wait until they and him , many time the card are issued but not sent

Finished Biometrics in Faro AIMA office for my mom as a dependent of golden visa holder.

We were first appointement for the day at 9 am, reached at 8:55 am and The Attorney was running late so asked me to go to Counter number 10 and say hello the the lay (they both know each other i guess). I introduced myself and confirmed the name of mom on her sheet. While we chatted for a second, attorney showed up. Everything was done pretty fast. Turns out main investor needed to sign at couple of places and main investor was taking a nap, so we asked if she can be here in 15 mins? AIMA employee said sure and she can take finger prints and photo in the meantime.

All in all, done and left at 10 am. Paid with portugese bank debit card 6000 something euros. Got printed this document Titled “Recibo Comprovativo De Pedido De”

Attorney tells me she is good to live in portugal for as long as her application isn’t processed. She also mentions faro office is taking around 6 months for new cards.

Hope this helps anyone with appointements

I’m in a train leaving Cascais after finishing bio. Appointment scheduled at 11:30. Then the usual system issue was announced. I got into AIMA at 1pm and left at 1:10pm. Full mark to my excellent law firm once again. For the record, AIMA employees were very friendly. There were lots of people sitting waiting at the square in front of AIMA.

Any news about Family appointments promised to be scheduled in the 2nd half of 2026?

The lawyers today said: " it might happen in …the second half of the year".

Mine said the same. I’m also hearing that dependents won’t be scheduled until the main applicant has their card issued - so either we’re all getting our cards in record time, or… AIMA is blowing smoke about biometrics for dependents later this year.

I know what I believe here, but am very willing to be surprised.

If they say it’s going to happen soon, IT WILL HAPPEN soon. When did AIMA ever deceived us?!

considering AIMA doesn’t appear to have scheduled any more appointments for ARI applicants since October I wouldn’t hold my breath
