Social security

As retiree moving from USA to Germany receiving Social Security will this count as income? How would that be taxed in Germany as I think it would not be taxed in USA CA. What about interest on accounts in USA? I am German and American citizen. Thank you

Hi @Soonthere I found this awesome website when they put this:

U.S. Social Security benefits received by US citizens and green card holders residing in Germany are exempt from tax in the United States and are taxable only in Germany.

You can find the link here: Simple Tax Guide for Americans in Germany

Thank you Marcos. Do you know as I am also German Citizen but get my social security from USA if that applies to me?
I appreciate! Thank you
Ursula

I believe that still applies to you, but I would double check this with a German lawyer or a tax expert in Germany like these guys https://www.benefitax.de/en/tax-consultation-chartered-accountancy/
