618.60 for “analysis”? Isn’t that what the application fee is for? Makes no sense.
Here’s the link of AIMA’s fee table ( https://aima.gov.pt/media/pages/documents/f4adf3850c-1741971293/tabela-de-taxas-e-demais-encargos-a-cobrar-pelos-procedimentos-administrativos.pdf )
The GV details are on page 2, I’ve taken a screenshot and pasted it here.
You think that with all this money we’re paying for renewals, that AIMA would use that money to speed up the process and minimize the headache for everyone (especially GV holders paying the highest fees!)
Interested if anyone else is waiting for a renewal (since April 2025) but has not received an email from AIMA?
When I go to the AIMA contact form, renewal for investment, I fill in all the information before getting this error code every time:
“message must be one of the following values: Agendamento para atendimento presencial na AIMA.IP”
Are you using the English version of the portal, by chance? (given that the start of your error message is in English)
Key takeaway I got from this coverage of the AIMA renewal portal fiascos is to always use the Portuguese version of any AIMA portal. Chances are very good the English/etc. versions are missing functionality and/or were not tested to the same extent.
The portal is available in PT and EN, but the same options don’t appear in the English version . This suggests potential flaws in usability testing.
Good advice. Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by bad coding.
Got my appointment for renewal for the 16th of Feb. Did the request on 12th of Sept.
Congrats!
Can I ask if you had to upload all renewed documents online before getting an appointment?
Thanks, good advice! I went into the Portuguese version and I got the message to send!
Now I wait for a reply ![]()
Has anyone else not received an email and cannot make an account on the AIMA website?
Nope, just my residency card and passport.
That’s good news! I’m waiting to renew my documents until I have an idea of what year my appointment will be ![]()
Can anyone help me with the following query:-
Hi everyone,
Does anyone know how to get the biometric proof document (Recibo comprovativo de pedido) from the AIMA office or AIMA website that mentions it’s valid for 180 days for cases where the biometric was done before July 1st, 2025?
I was told that, for an expired residency card to remain valid, the AIMA biometric receipt must state that it’s valid for 180 days. However, it seems that the receipts issued before the 1st July don’t include this text. Has anyone else experienced this issue or know how to handle it?
Thanks in advance
Proof of payment of the residence permit renewal fee is the document that grants an additional 180-day extension to the residence permit’s validity.

Decree-Law No. 85-B/2025 is attached.
2 — After October 15, 2025, documents relating to residence permits will be accepted upon presentation by the holder of a document proving payment of the respective renewal application, issued by the Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum, IP (AIMA, IP), valid for 180 days from the date of issue.

Thank you so much, really appreciated ![]()

Has anyone on here recently received a new card after a renewal appointment?
I’m interested in knowing how long it is currently taking to get the new card delivered.
At renewal appointment, AIMA will produce two documents: receipt of fee and confirmation of renewal request.
Following.
Also for the context: lawyer requested for renewal on 2 Sep. And today (10 Oct) I got an appointment for 27 Jan 2026 in Porto.
Are most people able to get appointments when your lawyers request for it? My lawyer has told me that they’ve requested for a renewal appointment for me but there hasnt been any feedback from AIMA. is this normal? Card expired early this year.
It takes approx. 3 weeks from request on “contactenos” to appointment email from AIMA. If not received by 4th week then chase your lawyer.
Thanks! I’m not sure if my lawyer used the contactenos page. All I’ve been told was that a renewal request has been sent to AIMA. I’ll check with my lawyer
