It might have been lost in translation. What the AIMA’s website says is that the portal is currently only available for those with cards expiring between July 25 and March 26. And they push the second time limit each month as the time passes.
So it’s not only March 26, it is UP TO March 26.
What is the Decreto Regulamentar no 84/2007? I had my renewal appointment at the end of October and I still have not received my new card. I am getting very anxious…my lawyers say I just have to wait.
I also renewed my card at the end of October 2025, but I still haven’t received it.
You do not need to be anxious yet. I just received my renewed card, five months after my september appointment.
May I ask where you renewed in September? My husband and I also renewed then and still don’t have our cards!
Lisbon, early september. Patience is what i have learned in this process:)
Ill be renewing soon.
I had invested in Real estate based funds in 2021, I was wondering if those in the similar investments getting the benefit of the lower Renewal fees?
for some yes, for some no. YMMV.

How can you schedule an appointment to apply for Article 80 permanent residency? Have you actually been residing in Portugal for five years?
No, we did not physically reside in Portugal for a full five years before applying for Article 80 Permanent Residency, though we had accumulated five years of holding ARI resident cards. Our first GV card was issued in June 2020, and we moved permanently to Portugal in March 2022.
We gave up on the idea of getting a specific “Permanent Residency” appointment after waiting for months (our lawyer was emailing daily requests) and, on advice from the AIMA e Nacionalidade Portuguesa - Grupo de Apoio Facebook group, submitted a “renewal” request via Contacte-nos, with the plan to then request PR in person.
About a month after submitting that request online, we were assigned appointments in Lisbon, where we live. At the appointment, the AIMA agent told our lawyer “no problem,” or something like that, when she expressed that we wanted to apply for PR.
Thank you very much for sharing your experience. Could you please tell about the documents for PR? What exactly did you submit at the appointment?
My family also received our first Golden Visa in November 2020 and started living in Portugal in January 2022. Could you tell me how much it cost you to obtain your Article 80 permanent residency card? Thank you.
It cost €385.
In advance of our appointment, we gathered a large list of documents in consultation with our lawyer. I am not sure exactly what was accepted by AIMA as we were not in the room for that part, just our lawyer was. We worked to make sure our complete names were on all documents (First Middle Last). Here is what we put together:
The completed Application.
