Row-back on earlier restrictions for the CPLP community here. I do wonder what the EU thinks of Portugal making it so easy (just a tourist visa!) for people to take up residence and move around Schengen.

  • The Portuguese government recently announced the changes, which, once approved by the National Assembly, will impact nationals of Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Sao Tome and Principe, Brazil, East Timor and Equatorial Guinea
  • Brazil and East Timor visa holders will not have to apply for a visa to enter Portugal. However, nationals of other countries still have to abide by the rules and regulations.
  • Those who obtain CPLP permits will be allowed to move around the EU.
  • In addition, it is expected that those who regularly enter Portugal will be granted a residence permit
  • The new rules will allow nationals of all nine countries to apply for a residence permit while arriving in Portugal on a tourist visa.
