1,537 divided by 260 (approximate number of workdays) = ~5.9
Each employee being responsible for approximately 6 immigrants per day seems absolutely reasonable. Especially when you consider the fact that some of these appointments take all of five minutes to complete.
I just got confirmation from my lawyers that they reuploaded the documents a couple weeks ago. Iâm a bit out of the loop on the timeline from here. How long is the wait now? (Originally applied in March 2023).
I got my biometric with new process. It was around January 25. Since that time my status is Transferido SIISEF. I think this status does not mean that approved and waiting card to be printed. My lawyer has changed last month and today she told me that we are still waiting last approval. All these times I was suspecting Portuguese Mint Office but now it seems that we are still waiting AIMA for approval.
@cemo I could be wrong, but I donât think your biometrics were under the new process. As I understand your prior posts, you had your biometrics as the result of a lawsuit. That alone may take you out of the new process.
The new process was announced at the end of last year. It required all pending applicants to resubmit a refreshed set of documents. AIMA was then supposed to set biometrics appointments 90 days after receiving the refreshed documents. The upside was that you were effectively approved by the time you showed up for your biometrics.
Based on your biometrics date alone, I donât think you were under this process. The reason this is important is because residency cards seem to be processed much faster under the new system (there are reports if people getting their cards under the new system within a few months).
My understanding could be wrong. If anyone has different information, please correct me.
Two parts to the new process - first, did you get a request to refresh and then an appointment date. second part - you pay DUC at the appointment
Based on the biometric date , I would expect @cemo is in the second part of this. We were in a similar situation and had very similar biometric dates slightly before @cemo (end Jan) . We got our appointment as the result of the law suit , did biometrics under new process (paid DUC)and received cards 4 months later.
(30-90 days later) attending biometrics, final approval and payment of card fee.
This is not true. Attending biometrics and payment of card fee is one step.
Approval is another step.
I am waiting my approval for 6 months almost. I know a few more people waited 3-4 months as well for getting cards.
Even if you pay at biometrics, it does not mean your final approval is done.
And I need to add another information. In the ARI portal Transferred does not mean that it is transferred to print card. It can also mean waiting final approval since there is no other step after this.

Itâs actually a little unclear what stage this is in - not because of the communication, but because there are questions about whether the biometrics appointment and payment is a final approval/semi-approval/or something entirely different.
Regardless, congrats on the appointment. Wishing you a smooth process.
