Tommy, thanks for the info. Are you able to give me any further insight into what the issue was and how it was resolved. I told my lawyer I am not content to wait weeks, months, or years only to find out that this was some dumb clerical error that could have been dealt with much sooner. Feel free to DM if you prefer.
Card Received (at lawyer’s office)
TimelineDB updated.
Start: 16 Oct 2024
Valid Until: 10 Oct 2026
Now waiting on wife’s card.
Congratulations on finally reaching the last step. May I ask at which SEF in Lisbon did you do your biometrics ? I did it on November 9, 2022, and have not received any notification yet.
Is this your first card ? Or renewed one?
My understanding is that there is only one SEF/AIMA office in Lisbon, so we would have done them in the same place. AIMA Lisbon seems to more or less be moving chronologically through the applications based on biometrics date, so you should bee receiving approval shortly (which in AIMA time means between tomorrow and 2 months).
Yesterday I received a notice from my lawyer asking us to renew our passport and entry into Portugal, but we were not given DUC, and I don’t know how long it will take to give DUC after completing the information.
So it seems that the date on the card is still the date of the card issuance.
First card for me.
What day did you pay your DUC?
Go figure, but 15 October. Blindingly fast processing. Of course, still waiting on wife’s card.
Congratulations, you must be thrilled.
I paid my DUC Aug 20 but haven’t received the card yet. And my wife hasn’t even had her biometrics done yet.
yeah… frankly I was gob-smacked by the speed.
Completley gobsmacked once again, but my wife’s card arrived today.
Start: 18 Oct 2024
Valid until: 16 Oct 2026
yours should be any moment now! literally any moment…don’t give up hope!
Just as another data point: I’ve been informed by my lawyer that my residency card arrived two weeks ago, about two months after I paid the DUC. I won’t be in the country to pick it up until Nov 12th.
Congratulations! Just wondering why would your lawyer wait for two weeks before sharing such as important information with you!
They moved offices several months ago and their old office didn’t notify them when the card arrived. I asked about it at the beginning of the week and that’s when they looked into it.
Just a conclusion and a small question:
Coimbra has been in evaluation of June 2023’s biometrics. According to the database, there seems only 1 biometric appointment each month (Primary Applicant only) from June 2023 to Dec 2023. Just wondering if anyone else here falls in this time period? I know this database does not cover everyone who did biometrics in a single location. But just wondering…
I think that tells you more about the sample size on this forum and is a coincidence. I came across other people who did biometrics in Coimbra in the week or so before I did.
My lawyer called to let me know that I have received the final approval and that we are waiting for DUC to be activated (within 24 hrs) to make the payment!
My timeline :
Initial application (Primary Applicant): 12 May 2021
Husband’s application : 7 Sept 2021
Biometrics (both) Lisbon : 7 Nov 2022
Final approval (Primary) : 4 Nov 2024
Was also told that once my card is issued we can expect my husbands approval
This whole process has been a test of patience… we did not file a legal case … glad that we have reached another milestone!
