I understand your point. But even when you have card in hand, the same issue still might happen to your wife. The plus side when including your wife into the process earlier is that her starting date for citizenship is years ahead. If your ultimate goal is the passport for both (husband and wife), then it is worth to add your wife into the process early. I really do believe that the new citizenship law will not last 4ever.
To each their own. Certain spouses may be more content to wait than others, relating to their own views of the world and the situation in their country of origin.
I am curious! I know the portal saysātransferred ā after biometrics. What does it say after the card is issued?
It stays as ātransferredā forever.
I just received my DUC, but itās for an unusual amount, 3089.70 EUR.
Has anyone else seen this? I did a Fund investment in 2021 and biometrics in Jan 2023, and approved recently. This is my first ARI, not a renewal. I thought the initial ARIs were like 5812.12 EUR to 7730.11 EUR ?
Is this amount coming directly from AIMA, or did my lawyer possibly enter the wrong number when generating the DUC? Iām hoping the amount is set by AIMA directly. I donāt know how DUCs are generated so I donāt know if it asks my lawyer to specify anything like amount.
Hi,
April 2023 biometrics here. I recently reached out to my lawyer for an update. It turns AIMA reached out to them last week asking for confirmation that we sent them the stamped bank declaration that I still owned my investment they requested back in Dec 2023. They did, but it seemed AIMA had misplaced it.
My lawyers are now recommending I go ahead and redo biometrics and yet another ARI bank declaration, even if AIMA has not requested it. Anyone else getting the same advice? Iām curious if this actually helped.
My understanding is that those of us who completed biometrics years ago donāt have to refresh, and technically AIMA didnāt ask for new docs, just proof of the older 2023 documents. Then again if it clearly helps speed up the process then Iāll happily go through the rigamarole one more time!
Hi, I received DUC with the same amount. But when I tried to pay, it shows the reference is not correct. Have you paid it successfully?
DUC payments are not working at the moment.
Oh thanks for the information. Since when? And when will they solve the problem? My deadline for payment is 7.4ā¦
It has been almost 30 days. I have no idea when will be fixed. I had to issue a second DUC because the first one expired. No one knowsā¦
So when you say āsame amountā [3089.70 EUR] I take it youāve received final approval, are trying to make the final (big) payment for the application and then receive your card?
I wasnāt sure if the problem below was just for the initial analysis fee payments, or final payments too. Your experience suggests both have been broken since late February.
[note the payment error started as āUnable to connect to the remote server.ā in late Feb., but then changed around 20-March to AIMA quoting an incorrect reference number]
In my case itās an analysis payment
Ah, then this thread (āAwaiting Final Approval (Stage 4)ā) is not the right place
See the other thread I pasted above for the latest news on AIMAās latest screw-up.
In my case itās the final payment, with the amount of 3089.7. Indeed the bank indicates that it needs a correct code. So this has not been functioning for a month???

Incorrect banking code since around 20-March⦠before that it was some software problem. In any case people have had problems paying since late Feb. (see other thread).
Our attorney informed us that the fee has been revised to ⬠8.060,20 for each residence permit and that we pay for the permit at time of biometrics in Lisbon.
You get an automatic 25% discount, so itās 6045 eur
Thanks, Chris! I hope youāre right, but the attorney didnāt mention that in her email, soā¦
I too have been waiting to pay the final DUC after being approved and it has been a system error for over a month. I was finally approved in mid-February. I already sent my lawyers ā¬6k so hoping they donāt come back asking for more.
Basically, in late 2023, fees were āincreasedā by 30% across the board, but at the same time a 25% discount was introduced for ādigitalā service. All part of an efficiency drive, to discourage in-person processes. Of course, not everything is ādigitalā yet, so the same 25% included services that were still only available in-person.
