That is what our lawyer said as well. Yes, you can influence the urgency request by actually living in PT, but it is generally just up to the judge. They have no concept of precedent, so its kinda random in that sense.
update :
Biometrics : 10th Oct 2022 ( Lisbon)
Final Approval Main Applicant : 12th April 2024
DCU and Paid application fees for Main applicant on 17th April 2024 , waiting for card to be delivered
Dependents are approved and DCU will be provided once main applicant card is generated .
Without a court case?
yup without a court case
Congrats - I think that’s the first approval from an October 2022 Lisbon biometrics date we’ve seen here
Truly momentous and welcome news. A Lisbon biometric recipient with a recent approval without a court case This would really suggest that something is happening in Lisbon. My biometrics were in Lisbon in November 2022, less than one month after yours and I have chosen not to file a court case, so I am happy to hear of your success. Congratulations!
A lawyer also reports another Lisbon approval with biometrics 13th October, so definite signs of life
Interesting — I emailed my lawyers last night asking for a case to be prepared and they said
… On the other hand, we were now told that SEF/AIMA is currently processing GV cases from face-to-face consultations that took place in October 2022 …
seems like their info is accurate. Maybe there is hope for us after all!
Checklist for Relocating to Lisbon/Portugal
Three years after we began this GV process as a means of offering flexibility in the future we are now permanently relocating to Lisbon in July with our Resident Cards in hand. I’ve been looking online including this forum for a comprehensive checklist of things you have to do when moving to Portugal but without exception they are vague and hence useless containing checkpoints like “get your visa in order”. I’m after a more specific and practical look at what to do when you become resident that contains checkpoints like SNS registration, tax residency registration etc. with required documents. Has anyone found one anywhere?
Are you on Facebook? There are several groups which contain detailed checklists. One such group is “Americans & FriendsPT”.
I 100% second this recommendation. They have a huge stash of documents saved in the group that give excellent step-by-step instructions for everything you need to do for living, healthcare, connecting with the community, transporting possessions, etc.
I am happy to report that I FINALLY received my approval. My full timeline is below. So sorry, but I don’t think I’m in the database yet.

Hi Mark,
do you have dependents ? were you told their approval card and payment needs to happen post your card being received or generated?
thx
Hi Chet,
I have a wife and three children also going through the program. They had their biometrics appointment in March of 2023 (6 months after mine). We have not received any additional information on their schedule.
Mark
I am going through CCA (lawyers) as well but in my case they suggested a lawsuit. Our (mine plus wife and daughter) applications were submitted c. November 2021 and biometrics in March 2023. No update until now. Also my son’s pre-approval (submitted later since he was not born at time of original application) is still not processed despite almost 2 years into the system!
Not that this is indicative of anything, but I finally had my US Global Entry renewed. Only took about 11 months. Go figgur. But hey - if lightening strikes, now I can hope for the Stage 4 approval to be imminent
Yeah, I know - próxima semana…
Lightening seldom strikes twice…
Hello everyone,
I am expecting the final approval and DUC issuance very soon. May I know how much the cost to issue the card for main applicant and for spouse with 3 children. I can see earlier post mentioned 6045 EUR, is that include the family members.
Thanks a lot
